MATERIAL INSPECTION REQUEST

# KFSH/MECH/MIR/551 - COMMENTS

Volume control dampers from SHARQAWI shown in the delivery note attached in this MIR are
A approved as noted below:

Reference to the attached pictures of the supplied VCDs remove the linkage covering plate and
1 reduce the size of the mounting plate provided to the manual locking hand quadrant to make
space available for the J-clamp in the sides.

Corners shall be smooth welded, Size of the flange and holes size and location shall match with
2 that of the receiving duct flanges.

3 Improved finish and workmanship required.

4 Provided Durodyne made Manual indicating and locking hand quadrant is OK.
5 Provided Stainless Steel bearings are OK.
6 Provided gasket as sweep seal at the bottom of the bladeis OK. Confirm material.

7 GI sheet thickness for frame, blade and blade stop is OK.


8 Axle length shall be covering full length of the blade with bearings at both ends.

9 60 mm Height of Stand-off bracket for mounting the manual locking hand quadrant is OK.

In keeping with SDC's policy of one vendor (brand) per system per building as adviced through
letter # DO-ST/SBG/JE-1257/823 dated 18th June 2016 (attached), no similar material from
10 another vendor (brand) shall be used in the building where this manufacturer's (brand of)
material is being used. As stated on this MIR these set of volume control dampers shall strictly be
used in the Oncology building only.

Installation shall be as per SMACNA standards and using approved gaskets and other required
11 materials only.

Storage shall be with proper environmental protection for all materials meeting manufacturer's
12 requirements. Care shall also be taken to ensure that all prefinished or factory finished materials
are adequately protected against damage and deterioration.
