    Example 1 : “Promotion of Mainstreaming Disaster
    Risk Reduction” (KCCP)

    General outline of the program:


    To promote mainstreaming of DRR based on the Sendai Framework.
    Especially, we focus on accelerating global target e) of the SFDRR;
    e) Substantially increase the number of countries with national and local
    disaster risk reduction strategies by 2020

    Contents of the program:
    ■Lectures and Site visits
    ・DRR related law and regulations, history and experiences in Japan
    ・Concrete methods and examples of promoting mainstreaming of DRR
    ■W/S and Exercises
    To formulate a local DRR plan including pre-investment through
    exercises for a city/municipality selected by each participant.

    Example 2 : “Management of Disaster Medicine for
    Latin American Countries” (KCCP)

    General outline of the program:


    To improve medical management systems and strengthen coordination
    among the related organizations in case of disasters.

    Contents of the program:


    ■At Hyogo Emergency Medical Center as the training base, to learn
    about the disaster medical system in Japan and the medical activities
    and experiences according to the type and scale of disasters.
    ■To understand the importance of coordination among the related
    organizations and the human resource development at normal times
    by participating in DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) training.

    Success Stories
    Revision of Local DRRM Plan in the Philippines

     Ex-participants of the JICA KCCP contributed


    to improve the local DRRM plan in part of pre-
    disaster recovery and reconstruction.
    → 21 of local DRRM plans were revised in the
    province of Pampanga, the Philippines.

    Establishment of the Chilean DMAT

     Ex-participants of the JICA KCCP conducted


    seminars to establish “Disaster Emergency
    Initial Response Unit (Chilean DMAT)” and
    formulated the DMAT guidelines and training
    manuals.
    → “Chilean DMAT” was established in 2016, and
    13 teams are now in operation in 8 provinces.
