MANAGEMENT SCIENCE

INSTRUCTIONS: Draw a graph on a yellow pad and show computations to compute what is required.
Please do study as I will be asking questions during our class.

MAXIMIZATION

1. Some students want to start a business that cleans and polishes cars. It takes 1.5 hours of labor
and costs P2.25 in supplies to clean a car. It takes 2 hours of labor and costs P1.5 in supplies to
polish. The students can work a total of 120 hours in one week. They also decide that they want
to spend no more than P135 per week on supplies. The Students expect to make a profit of
P7.75 for each car that they clean and a profit of P8.50 for each car that they polish. What is the
maximum profit the students can make?

MINIMIZATION

1. A rancher is mixing two types of food, Brand A and Brand B, for his cow. If each serving is
required to have 60 grams of protein and 30 grams of fat, where Brand A has 15 grams of
protein and 10 grams of fat and costs P80 per unit, and Brand B contains 20 grams of protein
and 5 grams of fat, and costs P50 per unit, how much of each type should be used to minimize
the cost?
