     National Conference on ‘India-Africa Partnership in a Changing Global


    Order–Priorities, Prospects and Challenges’ organized by the Indian
    Council of World Affairs (ICWA) in New Delhi
     1st National Conference on Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber
    Forensics being held at CBI HQ in New Delhi on September 4-5.
     The Centre will seek the help of the Indian Army to conserve the
    population of critically endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB) found in
    the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan.
     IIT Kharagpur selected for setting up a Sophisticated Analytical and
    Technical Help Institute (SATHI) by Department of Science and
    Technology. Aim of SATHI is to extend help to the academic institutes in
    the neighbouring regions.
     The Rajasthan High Court struck down a 2017 law that provided
    government accommodation and a staff of 10 to former full-term chief
    ministers for their entire lives.
     21 people were killed while 27 injured in a blast at a firecracker factory
    in Batala of Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
     Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram
    Vilas Paswan announced a blanket ban on all types of single-use plastic
    products in his Ministry and its PSUs from September 15.
     The RBI has made it mandatory for banks to link all new floating-rate
    loans for housing, auto and MSMEs to external benchmark like repo
    from October 1, a move aimed at ensuring faster transmission of policy
    rate cuts to borrowers

     Describing the slowdown as “deeper and more broad-based than


    suspected”, domestic rating agency CRISIL sharply slashed its GDP
    forecast for 2019-20 to 6.3 percent from 6.9 percent earlier.

     Fourth Indian Ocean Conference 2019 was organised in Male on
    September 3-4 by India Foundation, Government of Maldives and the S.
    Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore. Theme of the
    conference: ‘Securing the Indian Ocean Region: Traditional and Non-
    Traditional Challenges’
     India was ranked 34th (40th in 2018) in World Economic Forum’s Travel &
    Tourism Competitiveness Index 2019. Spain topped the ranking index
    followed by France and Germany.
     Austria’s capital Vienna was ranked as the world’s most liveable
    city by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Delhi is 118th while Mumbai is
    119th. Ranking of 140 cities is based on their scores in five broad
    categories — stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education,
    and infrastructure.
     Srihari Nataraj of Karnataka and Shivani Kataria of Haryana were named
    best male and female swimmers respectively at the 73rd Glenmark
    Senior National Aquatic Championship in Bhopal. Karnataka aquatic
    team was adjudged the best team.
