I. Objectives
II. Narrative
The world is full of surprises and calamities might happen at the most unexpected time.
Therefore, we must be ready to face it all for we don’t know when it will occur. So, last June 20,
2019, Liliw National High School joined in the DROP, COVER, and HOLD program during the
2ND Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). This activity aims to inform the
students, school personnel, and teachers to become aware about the different DO’s and Don’ts
before, during, and after an earthquake.
The drill started at exactly 2:00 p.m. in the LNHS. The students were oriented by Ms.
Cecilia Coroza about the objectives of the activity, the practices that they need to do, and most
of all the place where they need to go in case that this calamity happens. Students showed their
willingness to gain knowledge and participate in this important drill. After the orientation, the
students together with their adviser went to their respective classroom and attentively wait for
the signal to perform the activity. When the bell rang for the first time, the students started to do
the DROP, COVER, and HOLD position. Then, after they heard the long bell, the students went
to their respective places. The teachers and school personnel assured that the evacuation place
is an open ground and free from falling debris. In this drill there were also students who were
assigned to act as if they were injured. When all the students are already in the open ground,
the advisers checked the attendance and made sure that all of them were evacuated.
After the drill, the students gathered in the LNHS covered court for the discussion of DO’s
and DONT’s before, during, and after the earthquake. It was facilitated by Ms. Catherine E.
Moneva. The discussion was indeed so lively for all the students participating in every questions
raised by the facilitators. Furthermore, the LNHS Redcross team oriented their fellow students
and demonstrated the first aid to be given to the injured person. They shared knowledge on how
to properly handle the victim. At the end of the post orientation, open forum followed. We can
conclude that Liliw National High School, main building, is ready if an earthquake occur.
Whatever happens the best weapon that we can have is prayer.
