I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of 1-hour lesson the student will be able to:

a. approximates the measures of quantities particularly mass and


volume.
b. Cite a practical application of mass and volume.
c. Determine the dimension of different objects using the specified
metric units.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Measurement and Measuring Length
Materials: Textbook, Activity notebook
Learner’s Materials: G7-Math Learners Material pp. 91-98
Teacher’s Guide: pp. 115-123

III. PROCEDURE
A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES
1. Setting the classroom atmosphere
2. Prayer
3. Checking of student’s attendance
4. Refresh/Drill
 The teacher will give 5 items test to check the prior knowledge
of the students.
5. Motivation
The teacher will ask the following questions to students:
 :Why do we measure things? Why do we need standardized units
of measurement?

 The teacher will discuss the definition of mass and volume
 The teacher will introduce the base unit of mass and volume.

 The teacher will give a seatwork and let the students identify their
difficulties.
IV. EVALUATION
I. Activity
Materials Needed:
Ruler / Steel tape measure
Different regularly-shaped objects (brick, cylindrical drinking glass, balikbayan box)
Instructions: Determine the dimension of the following using the specified metric units only. Record
your results in the table below and compute for each object’s volume using the unit used to measure
the object’s dimensions. Complete the table by expressing/converting the volume using the specified
units.
