The Focus of This Lesson Is to Learn about Two Ways of Greeting in Korea:
In a Formal Setting and in an Informal Setting.
1. In a Formal Setting (between Two Adults Who Are Strangers to Each Other)
1. 안녕하세요.
An-nyeong-ha-se-yo.

3. 저는 진석(지수) 입니다.
Jeo-neun Jin-Seok(Ji-Su)im-ni-da.
"I am Jin-Seok(Ji-Su)."
* 저는 (Jeo-nuen) "I" + 진석(지수) (Jin-Seok(Ji-Su)) "Name" + 입니다 (im-ni-da) "am"
Therefore, 저는 [name] 입니다 (Jeo-neun [name] im-ni-da) = "I am (name)."

Cultural Insight
1. Bow, Bow, Bow
Therefore, if you plan to visit Korea, the first thing you have to learn is how to bow well in any
situation.
Korean people normally say and call their "given name" to each other. If somebody demands
your full name, the order for saying one's name is "Family name (last name) + Given name,"
which is opposite of the Western way of saying it. For example, if your full name is Chris
(given name) Kim (family name), you have to say "저는 킴 크리스 입니다." (Jeo-neun Kim
Chris-imnida.) "My name is Kim Chris" in Korea.
