Biomedical Model of Health: Disadvantages

The biomedical model of health views health as the absence of disease and focuses on diagnosis and treatment of illnesses through medical intervention. It has advantages like technological advances and increased life expectancy but also disadvantages like high costs, reliance on healthcare professionals, and a narrow focus on disease rather than overall well-being. The role performance model defines health based on an individual's ability to fulfill social roles like work and family responsibilities.

merely the absence of disease or infirmity. (WHO 1946)  relies on the professional health care workers and technology
 It emphasis on diagnosis and treatment of individuals separately  does not promote good health or narrow view of health
