Environmental Issues Assignment

This document provides an overview of water pollution including types, causes, effects, and recommendations for prevention. It discusses two types of water pollution - natural and chemical/human-caused. Major causes outlined include wastewater, oil spills, chemical dumping, and pesticides/insecticides. Effects harm humans, animals and marine life. The document recommends treating wastewater before release, reducing factory pollution, education programs, and enforcing stricter laws against polluters. Introduction

Water is the most important element that preserves human life. It makes up 75% of its
body, enters into all cells. Water is in the form of underground wells or in the form of
surface water such as rivers, seas and oceans. Water is a renewable resource in the
environment. As in the non-renewable resources such as oil and gas, but with the
increasing sophistication, technology and industrial activity in the last century, water
has been exposed to many of the problems that affected it due to the factors of pollution,
where it changed color and taste and it carries with it viruses, bacteria, diseases and
epidemics, which is based on the human food, which led to injury to human damage,
has affected this pollution on all living organisms, and we will provide in this article
the most important information about water pollution and its causes.

2
Water pollution
Water pollution means any change in the nature of chemical and physical water, which
affects their quality, quality and direct or indirect use. This change results in a negative
impact on all living organisms of humans, animals, plants and microorganisms on their
various species and groups, water is not suitable for any use. Water is the primary
lifeblood of all organisms. It accounts for 70% of the earth's surface area and pollution
means the end of life on earth.

Types & effects of water pollution

Scientists divided the water pollution on the surface of the earth into two types
depending on the nature of the causative:
Natural pollution: This is the change in the quality of the water and its specifications
that make it not desirable to drink or use due to natural factors, including: High
temperature of the climate, causing the evaporation of water from large bodies of water
and thus increase the proportion of salinity to become an inappropriate place for fish
life percentage of plankton in water.
Chemical pollution: This is the change in the quality of water and its specifications to
become unusable for human or animal and plant use. This type of pollution is usually
caused by human, such as the leakage of oil materials to the sea and ocean waters, the
formation of oil stains, and pesticides and pesticides to the seas, oceans and rivers, and
those wastes and substances increase the toxicity of water due to increased
concentration of toxic metals, heavy and radioactive, it becomes dangerous to humans
and all organisms, and destroy marine life.

Causes of water pollution

Air pollution is caused by natural activities, which increase the evaporation rate and
increase the salinity in the water, resulting in a change in taste and odor.
The arrival of wastewater and sewage to the seas and oceans is a cause of water
pollution, because they are full of viruses and bacteria, and these pollutants are the

worst types of pollutants, the presence of viruses and bacteria lead to human diseases
such as Salmonella, which leads to infection of intestinal infections and typhoid.
Contamination of rainwater due to materials on the surface of the earth such as soil and
suspended matter in the air.
Oil leakage from oil tankers is one of the most difficult reasons for water pollution,
which affects the fisheries and other marine organisms and leads to their loss.
Chemical and other factories throw their waste into the seas and oceans and make it a
waste dump. They dump paint, paper, copper and potash at sea, adversely affecting
marine life.
Radioactive reactors are the most dangerous and most dangerous waste. After disposed
of, specialists ignore international laws. They are placed in boxes of lead and buried
deep in the ocean. This leads to the leakage of reactants and pollution of oceans or seas
and the death of their objects.
Human waste is linked to the human factor.
Insecticides that seep into sewage and thus poison the living organisms in the seas and
oceans.

Prevention of water pollution

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is working hard to protect the environment and
combat the pollution risks of the marine environment, which is a priority and concern
of. The United Arab Emirates has perceived a major development in the fight against
environmental and marine pollution through the introduction of experts, conferences
and seminars on pollution control and the development of firm laws against violators.
The bodies set up to monitor the environment follow up their activities in field trips to
land and sea sites and report to officials on the causes of pollution and the methods used
to combat them, stressing that the issue of environment and conservation has become
one of the most important issues of concern to the UAE community.
Every person, institution, plant and plant has the right to protect its water sources from
pollution. Water is the lifeblood without which there is no human being. Many
organizations and environmental associations have sounded alarms in several areas to
warn about the danger and effects of water pollution on the continuity of life on this
planet. Prevention and protection methods to prevent this disaster include:

4
 Stop direct sewage to rivers, seas and oceans, as well as finding solutions to
address them away from drinking water sources so as not to leak and pollution.
 Determining stringent safety rules and conditions for the transportation of oil
and its derivatives by water to prevent accidents of marine carriers and the
leakage of oil from them.
 Disposal of nuclear and radioactive waste by treating and burying them in desert
and remote areas away from water sources.
 Recycling waste instead of putting it into water, and imposing severe penalties
on anyone who contravenes those instructions by the state.
 Regular follow-up of water sources and monitoring the level of pollution and
treat it immediately if it occurs.

Recommendations:

There are several things can be done to handle water pollution, so we recommend the
following:
 Conduct wastewater treatment before reaching the water bodies and using it to
irrigate crops.
 Use of devices that reduce pollution in modern factories.
 Construction of water purification plants.
 Presentation of educational programs and raising awareness among citizens.
 Treatment of oil stains through incineration and suction.
 Develop strict laws to reduce pollution.

5
Conclusion

In the end, we can say that the issue of water pollution is a global issue because it is the
main component of life before it is a vital and strategic resource. The issue of water
supply has become a global concern because of the population boom, the steady
increase in consumption and the life, agricultural or industrial activities as well as
pollution indicators.
