Acquaintance Party 2019

August 2- To widen the circle of friends and to strengthen the bond that ties
among the highschool students, the TISC highschool department held its annual
acquaintance party with the theme: “Music Evolution: Bringing Life and Color to
Every Generation”

Even the bad weather condition didn’t stop the high school TISCans to showcase
their talents and feel the spirit of camaraderie and fellowship among themselves. This
year’s theme featured the most notable music trends of various generations: the rock,
rhythm and blues of 50’s and 60’s; the disco music of 70’s and 80’s; the novelty and
pop songs of 90’s to early 2000’s and; the hiphop and modern pop songs of 2010 up
to present.

One of the highlights of this year’s party is ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar’ where
the students impersonated an artist or group of artists who became famous in their
respective eras such as Bruno Mars, Spice Girls, Elvis Presley and Hagibis.

Here are the statements of some high school students that show that they really
enjoyed the party:

“The acquaintance party was an amazing experience though the weather was not
on our side. I was able to get closer with a lot of high school students and get to know
their funny sides. Overall it helped me a lot in garnering new friends and I’m sure it
was a time of full positive energy in the high school department.” - Apryll Rose
Ayanna D. Arca (Grade 7 - Pearl)

“I was very excited and nervous because we’re about to dance. But after the
performance, we were proud of ourselves and Sir Glenn, our adviser. I was able to
gain more friends. We danced, talked and sang. That was one of the best days of my
life. Even though the weather was bad, still the acquaintance party was such an
amazing experience.” - Gian Carlos Lagrisola (Grade 7- Pearl)

“It was a blast! Even though we didn’t get to start at the planned time due to bad
weather condition, it didn’t stop us at having fun at all! The ‘Your Face Sounds
Familiar’ competition made the acquaintance party more fun and different from last
year’s. We were able to showcase our talents and creativity being able to imitate
famous icons of different eras assigned per year level. I was smiling throughout the
party especially when my name was announced as winner for best looks and when we
won the YFSF! I’m happy for everything that happened and I’m looking forward for
more fun and memorable activities.” - Athena Lauren D. Corcuera (Grade 8- Jade)

“The acquaintance party was fun just like the previous ones. Even if the classes
were canceled, we still managed to continue the party by moving it earlier than the
planned schedule. It was nice meeting and to get to know other students in high
school. The performances were all good and funny, some even left me in awe. ‘Your
Face Sounds Familiar’ was a new edition and I must say, I would love to have it again
next year, hopefully! It’s good to have these type of school events to momentarily
forget about stress in academics and to focus on the other reason why we come to
school - to meet people and to make friends. It was short yet fun and memorable party!
- Missey Molon (Grade 8 - Jade)

“At first, I thought that the party wouldn’t be nice but I was wrong. Even though
party was short given the class suspension, I was able to enjoy myself as well as the
bond with my classmates and friends from the other grade levels. I also had fun
dancing and singing together with my friends. This experience made me a lot
comfortable in performing in front of the whole school therefore , I can say that the
acquaintance party definitely boosted my confidence as well. I was able to enjoy
myself in ways that I didn’t know I could. I am very happy and thankful that I was a
part of this year’s acquaintance party.” - Andrea Luna (Grade 9- Ruby)

“The acquaintance party held this year was very unusual. Performances prepared
by different classes are very spectacular and their outfits are stunningly gorgeous. The
foods served by the caterers are mouthwatering and flavorsome. The brief time and
gloomy weather were not hindrances for me to be able to socialize and build new
friendships” - Celine Corcuera (Grade 9-Ruby)

“I was able to enjoy the acquaintance party because I experienced it with my

friends. I am also glad to meet new friends and enjoy the party with them too. The
party itself was not the only thing that made the whole experience fun but it was also
because of the whole preparation we did—from the efforts of the teachers who helped
us and to every effort of each student involved. This acquaintance party will be part of
my high school memories that I will truly treasure. It was definitely worth going.” -
Mico David (Grade 10- Amethyst)

“It was unexpected that the acquaintance party will still continue even though
there was a cancellation of classes. Although it was held during the day and it was
raining during the event, it was fun. The dances of every class represented well the era
of music assigned to them. I was able to talk to some of the students in my table and
also during the game, the Human Bingo. It was also relaxing to hear some music
while we are eating. During the socialization, most of the students gather at the center
to dance even the teachers joined in. I enjoyed the party and did not notice that it was
about to end. It was a unique acquaintance party and it is my last one in TISC.”
- Dave Asis (Grade 10- Amethyst)
