WORK ETHICS
A strong work ethic is an important part of being successful in your career. Work
ethic is a set of values based on the ideals of discipline and hard work. Building a
strong work ethic will allow a person to train themselves so that hard work is
almost automatic. Forming good habits such as focusing, staying motivated,
finishing tasks immediately, and more helps to create a good work ethic that will
impress employers.
Focus and Persistence
People with a good work ethic have the ability to stay focused on tasks for as
long as necessary to get them done. Building persistence will allow you to
basically train yourself to work for longer periods of time while also working
harder. It is important though, to balance persistence with adequate rest to
reduce the risk of burnout. Focus is equally as important as persistence when it
comes to work ethic. Focusing will allow you to finish tasks more efficiently while
avoiding distractions.
Finish Tasks in a Timely and Efficient Manner
People with a strong work ethic do not procrastinate and instead immediately
tackle their work tasks. In addition to getting to tasks right away, a good work
ethic involves doing things properly. Employers do not want to see sloppy and
incorrect work and may question the work ethic of people who produce poor
quality work.
Always Be Punctual
In order to make a good impression, you should always be punctual for school,
work or appointments. Some people have a hard time getting out the door, so
setting the clock ahead a few minutes or planning to leave the house extra early
can help. Showing up late for work can signal to employers that you are not
devoted to your job.
Be Professional
Being professional means more than wearing business attire. Professional
includes demeanor, attitude, and values. People who want to develop a good
work ethic should practice being cordial and positive and should always refrain
for partaking in gossip. Professionals are respectful of others and work to
develop a reputation of being an honest, hard worker.
Create a Work Life Balance
While it is important to show your employer that you are willing to work hard, it is
important to create a healthy work life balance. Working too much can cause you
to become overwhelmed and start messing up work. Getting enough sleep and
taking the time need to recharge and relax is very important.
If you are motivated, it is easy to develop a strong work ethic that will be
appreciated by employers and coworkers. Having a strong work ethic can also
increase your chances of being considered for promotions, new jobs, and can
lead to other positive outcomes.

SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE

1) Be Aware Of Your Surroundings
This step requires knowing the particular hazards of your job or workplace. Once
you’ve learned these risks, you are able to keep clear of potential hazardous
areas, and potential hazardous situations. Also, always be alert of machinery.

2) Keep Correct Posture To Protect Your Back

If you work at a desk, keep your shoulders in line with your hips to avoid back
problems. If you’re picking things up, use correct form so your back doesn’t get
hurt. Avoid stooping and twisting. If possible, always use ergonomic designed
furniture and safety equipment so everything you need is within easy reach.

3) Take Regular Breaks

So many work-related injuries and illnesses occur because a worker is tired,
burned out and not alert to their surroundings. Taking regular breaks helps you
stay fresh on the job. One trick to staying alert is to schedule the most difficult
tasks when your concentration is best, like first thing in the morning.

4) Use Tools and Machines Properly

Take the proper precautions when using tools, and never take shortcuts. Taking
shortcuts is one of the leading cause of workplace injury. It’s a huge safety risk to
use scaffolding as a ladder or one tool in place of another for a specific job.
Using tools the right way greatly reduces the chance of workplace injury.

5) Keep Emergency Exits Easily Accessible

In case of an emergency, you’ll need quick, easy access to the exits. It’s also
recommended to keep clear access to equipment shutoffs in case you need to
quickly stop them from functioning.

6) Report Unsafe Conditions To Your Supervisor

Your supervisor needs to be informed about any workplace safety hazards or
risks. They are legally obligated to ensure their employees have a safe working
environment and will take care of the unsafe conditions and make them safe for
you and your coworkers.

7) Use Mechanical Aids Whenever Possible

Instead of attempting to carry or lift something that’s really heavy in an attempt to
save a sliver of time during your workday, take the extra minute to use a
wheelbarrow, conveyor belt, crank or forklift. Too many injury risks are involved
with trying to lift something that weighs too much.

8) Stay Sober
Around three percent of workplace fatalities occur due to alcohol and drugs.
When a worker’s ability to exercise judgment, coordination, motor control,
concentration or alertness is compromised, this leads to any number of risks for
workplace injury and fatalities.
9) Reduce Workplace Stress
Stress can lead to depression and concentration problems. Common causes of
workplace stress include long hours, heavy workload, job insecurity and conflicts
with coworkers or managers. Take your concerns about workplace stress to your
supervisor to see how they might help you address them.

10) Wear The Correct Safety Equipment

If you’re not wearing the correct safety equipment for a task, you may get injured.
Depending on the job, equipment like earplugs, earmuffs, hard hats, safety
goggles, gloves or a full-face mask greatly reduce the risk of workplace injury.

WORKPLACE RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

It’s important to understand your workplace rights and responsibilities in regards
to pay and conditions, health and safety and workplace bullying.

By law, your employer is responsible for making sure:

 your work environment is safe and providing appropriate protective

equipment if necessary
 workers are free from discrimination and bullying
 you receive all your entitlements in terms of pay and conditions.
As a worker, you are responsible for:
 understanding the conditions of your employment. This includes knowing
your rate of pay, working hours and entitlements to breaks and leave
 working in a way that is not harmful to the health and safety of yourself or
others
 knowing what to do if you think your employer is not meeting their
responsibilities.
Make sure you:
 understand the conditions of your employment. This includes your rate of
pay, working hours and your entitlements for breaks, leave and public
holidays
 know your rights in regards to discrimination and bullying. Know what to
do if you experience or witness this in your workplace
 know the health and safety requirements of your workplace. Know how to
maintain a safe environment for yourself and others
 have access to all of the appropriate safety gear and equipment. Know
what to do in the event of an accident
 know where to get help on workplace health and safety issues relevant to
your state or territory.

CONFIDENTIALITY IN THE WORKPLACE

 Confidentiality in the workplace is rule number one in the book of
business etiquette. Not only are you showing your customers, clients and
employees a level of common courtesy by protecting their data, you’re
fulfilling your legal responsibility to prevent sensitive information from
being leaked. Such breaches of confidentiality can have catastrophic
consequences for your business, so it’s worth ensuring you understand
how to adhere to this ethical, legal duty.
 Look at it this way, in a single day one employee could be handling all
sorts of private or intellectual information, from customer contact details to
financial information regarding the company. Not to mention the data that
could be retrieved if your computer systems were accessed by an
external party. Without an employee confidentiality agreement and
security procedures in place, your data is at risk of breach. The same
applies whether you work in finance, healthcare, HR, you name it.
 It’s important for an employer to take the necessary steps to ensure
confidential information is kept exactly that, or the consequences will be
yours to contend with.

PROPER
NATURE AND BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY/
BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT
The nature of business refers to the sector or industry to which a company
belongs. The nature of business describes what the company does.

The nature of a business includes many components, including the type of

services it provides and how it is formed. There are many types of business
categories, including voluntary, statutory and private. Statutory companies are
those that provide personal care to others. Daycare centers and nursing homes
are two examples of statutory companies.

Another type of business is voluntary. This group includes charities, nonprofits,

community groups and cooperatives. Another broad category is private, which
refers to a company that performs services in exchange for other goods and
services or money. The nature of business can also include whether or not a
business is new or established.

Cordova Multi-Purpose Cooperative is one of the voluntary business because it

is a business organization owned by a group of individuals and is operated for
their mutual benefits. One of the purpose of the cooperative is to help the people
who are in need.

Also to sustain the living of the people. In Cordova Multi-Purpose Cooperative

(CMC) their everyday task is to give services to its members. So that the
members will be satisfied of the service they offer. The employees of the
cooperative are doing their best to assure the members to have a good quality
service.

are: Associate Member and Regular Member. Associate Member can only avail

- Training/Seminars & etc.

TARGET CLIENTELE
The target clients of Cordova Multipurpose Cooperative are the people who are
not yet member of this organization. Also the people who are interested in
investing money for their future needs.

The way they reach their client is to tell their members to recruit some people
who are interested to join and to tell them the benefits they would acquire if they
would be a member in this organization.

They use their members to reach those targeted people. They would also
persuade the people to join their organization through activities that can catch
their attention like as I've said earlier like benefits, loan terms that have an
accepted rate of interest for them. Interest that they can bare to pay. Through
those benefits they could acquire, they will be also encouraged to recruit more.

Day 1 04-17-19

Today is my first day of work immersion and I thought working in your chosen
field would be a lot easier because you already have a background on what you
are going to do but everything that my mind expects is all wrong. Working in the
real field is like being an ignorant child, you have to adjust on the surrounding,
the people around you and everything. Mix emotion. I’m a bit nervous and exited
for what will go to happen in my first day of work immersion. I am new to
everything I don’t think I would be an effective to this situation because for me I’m
not yet ready. Though feeling is so overwhelming, working or having this kind of
experience, I won’t ever forget this day. It makes me realize a thing that we
should do in having this field and I am so happy to what I’ve have experience
today and I’ll forever cherish and won’t forget this another memories I have built.

Day 2 04-22-19

This morning I arranged some files and encoded some documents. I was able
to finish my task early so I asked Ma’am jenny if there is anything else that I can
do but she said that that’s all she need. This was my second day and I am still
adjusting and familiarizing myself with the office. I still feel nervous and a bit
uncomfortable. It was a little bit busy day at the office. Ma’am jenny told me that
she will just call for me if she needed something to be done. There are some
things that thought us and that is when we observed actions on all the employees
.They’re always put a love on all the things they do even if this day is consider as
their hectic day. I am so blessed to encounter this kind of opportunity to learn like
this in my Life.

Day 3 04-23-19

This day I’ve learns that Work immersion is not that stressful for senior high-
school students. Yet, as part of the K to 12 curriculum but for me as a students
through this work immersion I have gained those relevant learning experiences
through actual work. We were assigned to a company wherein suitable for our
specializations in order to help us reinforce our knowledge from classrooms and
enhance our skills and I am so blessed that today I have learned this things on
what I have observed to them and know about. I am so thankful to this day for I
have learns things that I’ll forever treasure in my life.

Day 4 04-24-19
This 4th day of my work immersion is so much fun and I have learned so many
things like cutting papers, arranging files or documents and etc. They always
make me feel that I’m helpful to them and they always motivate me to work
responsible and to do things with love and compassion. I am so blessed today for
what I have learned that I didn’t learn from school and only to this experience
when I’m with them. Blessed also that I’m working together with my classmates
that even there are times that is boring I am so lucky to have them, for my bored
days become fun when I’m with them.

Day 5 04-25-19

Today is my 5th day of my work immersion and I continuously get attaches with
some staffs and/ continuously getting to know them. I feel always that I’m
approachable to them because they always make me feel that I’m so helpful to
them and when they want us to do we efficiently do things and can participate in
all things . I’m so glad to be part of this kind of work experience. I have learn a lot
of things that sooner I can apply in my actual work field when I become an
employer like them someday.

Day 6 04-26-19

This 6th day of my work immersion is another day and another way to learn so
many things that involve on what I want to be with. I learned to be responsible,
patient and being obedient to them and also to be an approachable to them. I
don’t want them to see that I am bore but I want them to see how I am willing to
cooperate and do things they want me to do. It is my pleasure to work and help
them, for I know that working in such this kind of situation is not that easy .So I
learned not to be a burden but to be a helpful person in accompanying to all their
task. I am so blessed and happy today .Thankful for the day god hath given to
me this rare kind of opportunity.

Day 7 04-27-19

I am so happy for God hath given me this another day to learn and do good
things in my life. I will do things at my very best and I will be a responsible to help
again. I have observed in my environment that doing work in good things and in a
best manner make your costumer would love to come and approach you again. I
am so much blessed because I feel that I’m always helpful to them and can make
them realize that even if I’m just a student, I can do things what they all want me
to do. Another day that makes me realizes what’s the real purpose of my
existence in this life. Feeling blessed today.

Day 8 04-29-19
Today is the 8th day of my work immersion and I am so happy because were
near to our last day and that’s why I won’t let things to be wasted because I know
every day always thought me lessons and that lessons can change and apply in
my life that I would lovely want to learn . I am so happy because I have getting to
know more on my workmate that is my classmate, even though we’re not that
close in the classroom but with the help of work immersion I have known them
more with just few days because when there is nothing to do,they’re always there
to share their motivational life and their real life story. I am blessed to have them.
I am thankful always to the staffs of the company for making my life responsible.

Day 9 04-17-19

Today is our 9th day of work immersion ,We worked Saturday because I will
have to attend a wedding ceremony on 30th of April and/or i don’t want to be
behind, we suggest to work today and we ask also to the manager to this
situation and he responds us that it is okay for us to work this Saturday. Working
the last two days of this company is a lot of challenge and memorable things
we’ve experience like those incredibly valuable opportunity; it gives us the
chance to explore the world of work in a way that we otherwise wouldn’t be able
to access at this age. I am so blesses to have this kind of opportunity that even in
just a few days I am a part of this company. We’ve probably gained more from it
than you realize. When you’re putting your work experience, make sure to think
about what skills you’ve developed and what you’ve learned. Don’t be afraid to
have mistaken, Everyone makes mistakes. It is a fact of life. Keep looking for
places to further develop your skills the more confident you are in them, the more
employable you’ll be in the future and I will always treasured this remaining days
to gather more memories with them .

Day 10 04-22-19

My last day of work immersion in CMC (LLC Branch). I am happy at a same

time a little bit sad. Happy because finally our work immersion would finally end,
it means no more work to do. Sad because I will surely miss the people who
guide us in our work immersion, the people who teach us the things that aren’t
though in school. I will forever treasure the leanings, the lessons and the
memories. They let me realize that maturity or being matured is needed in
workplace and in other area because you are not working alone, you are dealing
and communicating with other people with respect. So blessed and thankful to
have an experience with the those good and motivational employees. I will
forever cherish those things.

WRITTEN NARRATIVE OF WHAT THE STUDENTS

LEARNED
Having the immersion was really a good start to experience how it feels to be in a
work place. As a requirement for graduation in Senior High School, we have to
have a complete 80 hours work immersion on the company or working
establishment we are assigned in.

In our case, we are fortunate enough to have our immersion at the Cordova
Multipurpose Cooperative (CMC) because in our strand ABM.

To sum up all the days that we've experienced in Cordova Multipurpose

Cooperative, we've learned so much. We are very much happy because working
at the Cordova Multipurpose Cooperative (CMC) is one of the best experiences
we ever had. Even in just a short span of time it had really open our eyes on how
fun and we are glad to experience working in CMC.

After few days or weeks of my immersion, we have realized some things that will
be useful for our future. First, Punctuality is very essential because in this simple
way you can show how serious you are to your job. Next would be Patience.
Patience when it comes to the task that they're going to give you. Even if your
already got bored waiting for nothing, patience is the answer to that. We must
have a Positive Attitude because positivity is the key to success.

Respecting with your workmates so that there will be peace at the workplace.
Because we all know that it is important to have a good communication with
everyone you are working with. To sum it all up, we're glad for the experiences
that we'll treasure the most. We have experienced new things that aren't familiar
with the things we usually do at school. We have met new people and lastly
we've learned something.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST: SCHOOL AND WORK

APPLICATION OR SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND
ATTITUDE
Life has its process and one way to go through that is the school and in a
workplace. It that leads us to our path in what life we wanted to reach our
different dreams and goals in life.

In contrast to that, school it is our learning process to get ready of what

real life is. It give us a hint what we must do so that we will have a bright
future and to learn how to live independently. In school they let us
discover the things that we wanted to let us choose which path we must
walk through. Being a student nowadays is not easy because we have lots
of things to do, the money that we always spent during the projects and
activities in school. We only depend that to our family who are supporting
us.

While when you are working this is where you can say the most stressful
one. You must consider the differences of the people around you. You
must adapt the new environment where you belong. It is where you can
say that "This is the reality in life". There are lots of conflicts that you may
face with your coworkers. But as part of the company we must not let our
pride ruin everything. We should know how to make solution in every
problem we encountered.

As an employee we must have a good relationship with your coworkers. In

working it is also the start that you need to live independent because
working is the way to survive in this world. In working we have our
responsibilities as an employee. We must not waste our time; we need to
do our duties at our work hours because we are paid by that. We cannot
easily absent to our work or even have a leave. Not the same as students
that they can have time to enjoy if they wanted. But when you are working
it is a nice feeling that you can gain salary of your hard work and you can
treat yourself.
