Introduction
E-learning is the use of Information and Communication Technology e.g.
Internet, Computer, Mobile phone, Learning Management System, Televisions,
Radios and others to enhance teaching and learning activities. E-learning is a
unifying term used to describe the fields of online learning, web-based training and
technology delivered instructions. E-learning has become an increasingly popular
learning approach in higher educational institutions due to vast growth of internet
technology. Nowadays E-learning has a competitive advantage and many
universities have implemented it and this has impacts on students’ performance.
However, still there are other universities and academic institutions that use very
low interactive E-learning which is not enough to contribute to the performance of
the students. In contrary to that, other higher educational institutions use highly
interactive E-learning which directly improves students’ performance in general.
Objective
To find out is, E-learning an effective way of learning.
The comfort levels of students on E-learning.
Literature Review
In the term ‘e-learning’, ‘e’ in regards to e-learning, obviously stands for
electronic. Electronic learning can take many forms, and consequently there has
been some debate about what can legitimately be covered under such a term. A
wider discussion on the use of the term e-learning can be found in Pollard and
Hillage (2001):
This is a deliberately wide definition which predominantly includes the use of the
Internet, intranets and CD-ROMs, but also includes video conferencing, satellite-
delivered lecturing, and virtual educational networks.
E-learning is a best adopted economical method and which consumes less time as
compared to the traditional learning.
E-learning requires more maturity and self-discipline from students than traditional
classroom education, which may explain the higher dropout rates in E-learning
programs compared to conventional programs.
Students who just completed high schools are not suitable for E-learning as they
still need guidance from parents or instructors. E-learning is more suitable to
students pursuing higher education or who would like to upgrade their
qualifications either part of career development or personal ambition.
