Alteryx Use Case Overview
The list below is a subset of use cases that become the reason why our clients decide to move forward with
Alteryx as their standard Self-Service Analytics platform. These are use cases that are typically the first of
many, however, these ‘gateway’ use cas es lay the ground work for expectations and the art of the possible
moving forward.

Excel & Access

➢ Do you fear data loss and data inaccuracies?
➢ Do you have macros that take TOO LONG to run?
➢ How much time do you spend DEVELOPING Macros?
➢ Are you locked out of your computer until a macro completes?
➢ Does your Access Database continually crash?
➢ Are you maintaining someone else’s VBA code?
Excel and Access specifically are ‘small data’ tools. Commonly we are working with teams who are struggling
to maintain their Excel and Access data processes, or spending too much time during development of these
processes. Whether they are maintaining old VBA code or just waiting for macros to finish, ultimately, Alteryx
will eliminate this pain. Organizations need to re-adjust their data strategies to align more appropriately with
the BIG Data they have at their fingertips.

Visualization Tools (Tableau, Qlik, Power BI)

➢ Are you prepping, blending and manipulating data within your visualization tool?
➢ Is your dashboard rendering too long and business users are complaining?
Visualization tools are very good at visualizing data. However, prepping, processing, calculating, etc should all
be done further back in the data processing process. Alteryx will allow you to process data rapidly in memory
or at the database, so you can alleviate the visualization tool from doing this sort of heavy lifting.

Salesforce.com
➢ Struggling to build comprehensive reports in SFDC?
➢ Are you trying to import data from other tools into Salesforce and struggling?
Alteryx has native connections built in for Salesforce.com. Alteryx will allow you to pull data OUT of
Salesforce prep it, blend it, analyze it, then WRITE the results back into Salesforce. This functionality will allow
you as a SF report builder to automate report building. Start saving time!
SQL Coding
➢ Can you write SQL code, but hate writing SQL code?
➢ Have you ever inherited someone else SQL code after they left the company?
Analyst, Data Engineers and Data Scientist all over the world are ‘boycotting; SQL code because of the Alteryx
In-Database tools. These tools allow you to build out a SQL statement, that is executed at the database
without writing a single line of code. Annotation and comments can be embedded within your workflow for
ease of interpretation. Debugging is now insanely easier using Alteryx In-Database tools for all SQL coders!

Spatial Analysis (ESRI, Map Info)

➢ Are you trying to prepare spatial objects and spatial data in your spatial platform?
➢ Are you spending a ton of money on Geo Coding internal and external addresses?
➢ How do you combine Spatial data with your Enterprise data... is this cumbersome?
➢ Do you need more granular information about the road networks? Does this impact your business?
o E.g. Customer Geo Boundaries, Road Traffic Volumes, Drive Times, etc.
