1.5. Design Considerations


Manhole raft and wall are to be constructed with structural plain concrete (C40). Strength a
Stability checks shall be performed considering the provisions stated in ACI318M Chapter 2

Requirements for Structural Plain Concrete desin shall asuume an uncracked section there
design verification for crack width is irrelevant.

Design compressive strength of concrete is calculated as per the provisions stated in


ACI-318M Table 5.3.2.2 for f'c > 35MPa:
f'cr = 1.10f'c + 5.0 where f'cr = 40 Mpa (for C40 Concre
f'c = (f'cr - 5.0) / 1.10
f'c = 31.82 say 31 Mpa (conservative)
