LEAKY FEEDER CABLE
PBE's Minecom Leaky Feeder cable is part of PBE's Minecom Leaky
Feeder System which provides a highly effec ve and safe
underground communica on system.

Minecom Leaky Feeder cable is used to transmit/receive or distribute

RF signals throughout an underground tunnel system. Minecom Leaky
Feeder cable is a type of coaxial cable with a specially designed outer
shielding that allows RF signals to leak and enter the cable. It also
allows signals from radio transceivers located nearby to enter and
travel along the cable to the base sta on. In a mine environment, the
power radiated from the cable is limited to 10 to 12 mW to prevent the
RF energy from interfering with electric detonators. The cable has a
radia on pa'ern of 360 degrees.
FEATURES
The leaky feeder cable is supplied on 350 meter spools or 500 meter
• Flame retardant drums with a yellow or blue outer sheath. There are printed length
marks on every meter of the cable to assist in cable layout.
• Rugged construc on Minecom Leaky Feeder cable (see image below) has a foam dielectric,
which not only makes the cable more robust, it prevents water from
• Yellow or blue outer sheath entering the inner core of the cable. Air dielectric leaky feeder cables
have a ‘hollow tube’ which if damaged allows water to run down the
• LO-smoke halogen free
cable and damage system components.

LEAKY FEEDER CABLE
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
The cable and the connec on methods have been adopted specifically for mine and tunnel construc on use, allowing for easy
assembly underground, without the need for special tools or skills.

Always refer to the Minecom Leaky Feeder Manual (MAN-41-00005-01) for cable prepara on methods and System Design Guide
(DWG-41-00005-01) for device spacing.
