The standard and most ideal type of jury would be one that is open minded, free of bias and favoritism. This is
because there are a wide range of cases and the personal preferences someone has can rig a case. Justice
needs to be based on logical reasoning they use in day to day life without the biases. One choice of the jury
has a huge impact on the person that is guilty or not. Jury selection can be erroneous in some ways when the
voir dire process is aided by specialists that help attorneys. They may help the attorney that can rig the
decision in the attorneys favor. In the courtroom, the process of voir dire is intended to detect bias or narrow-
mindedness among potential jurors. Even when the jury chosen ends up having bias or even using there
emotions rather than the facts presented.
In the courtroom: What is the goal of the prosecutor? The defense attorney? Provide examples in order to
clarify your discussion.
The prosecutor’s goal is to charge the suspect with crimes and try to convict them in court, while the defense
attorney is just there to defend the client, the suspect, and prevent conviction. The prosecutor must prove the
crime beyond a reasonable doubt, while the defense attorney is not trying to prove anything just there to
represent the client. An example of a prosecutor would be a lawyer charging a man with rape on a women and
then killing her and he provides lots of DNA proof and witnesses from the night of the event. While the defense
attorney, who the client has told that he did commit the crime, but the attorney continues to talk on behalf of this
client, not trying to prove innocence but trying to show flaws in the opposing’s argument.
