This document outlines a lesson plan for teaching 7th grade students about lab safety procedures. The objectives are for students to learn safety procedures, emergency procedures, and how to efficiently prepare for lab experiments. The plan involves students copying notes on lab safety, a discussion of procedures, showing pictures of lab accidents, and completing a word search. The lesson is evaluated based on students' knowledge of what to do in an emergency and proper lab conduct and clothing. The student teacher notes the lesson went well and engaged students, though matching the standard was difficult since the topic was assigned.

Specific Objective to Meet Goals
Students will be able to know safety procedures of the lab. Students will be able to know emergency procedures. Students will be able to prepare efficiently for lab experiments. OHIO LEARNING STANDARD Grade 7 (Cycles and Mass of Energy 7.PS.1) Elements can be organized by properties. Motivational Techniques Display to students’ pictures of real-life lab experiments that turned into disasters and any injuries that were caused by a lab accident by mixing elements with different properties. (Being careful on not showing anything too graphic.) Materials Needed Student science books, notebooks, white board, lab safety word search, writing utensils. Procedure for The Lesson -Students enter classroom and lab safety notes are posted on the whiteboard. -Students take out notebooks and start to copy down notes. (First 5-10 minutes) -After notes are copied down, I will then discuss lab safety procedures with the class and answer any questions they may have. (10-15 minutes) -After discussion, I will show the class pictures of real-life lab accidents to inform students on what could go wrong. (5 minutes) -Students will then start on the lab safety word search that I have provided them for the remainder of class. Academic Language Discuss, inform, notes, evaluate Assessment Methods Evaluate students by asking them what to do in case of a lab emergency. What should they always do first? What type of clothing should be worn? What should be done after each lab? Evaluation of Field Experience Student’s performance The lesson went well and the students were really engaged in the subject of lab safety. They know the order of procedures to do while in the lab and who to notify if something were to go wrong. The students were intrigued at the pictures of lab accidents that I showed them. The only thing that was difficult for this lesson was matching the learning standard with my lesson. My lesson topic was given to me by my cooperating teacher. None of the Science standards really matched so I tried my best to match up my lesson. The lesson corresponds to what my students are learning right now, and they are now talking about lab procedures/safety. Other than that, the lesson ran smoothly. I have a great cooperating teacher and students to work with, and this allowed me to get to know my students better and be more social with them.
