Defence Day Speech
Respected Principle, Teachers and my
school fellows ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM I am happy to join you in celebrating the Defence Day and it’s a matter of great pleasure to me that I am addressing to some of the future corporate leaders of this country. As all of you know that we are celebrating the 54th Defence Day of Pakistan. Dear fellows, we celebrate this day in the memory of our those beloved and brave soldiers who fought bravely and died in the Indo-Pak war of 1965 and made successful the defence of Lahore and other important cities of Pakistan. I know you all are aware of the historical significance of this day. However I would like to highlight it so that all the students of our junior classes are well aware about it. So my dear students, this is what happened. On 6th September 1965 at 5 am the Indian army attacked Pakistan from Lahore Burki Sector. This five week war caused thousands of casualties on both sides. It ended in a United Nations mandated ceasefire. Pakistani Army officers like Captain Sarwar Shaheed, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, Lance Naiq Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed, Major Tufail Shaheed, Major Raza Aziz Bhatti Shaheed sacrificed their lives and were awarded with “Nishan e Haider” for their acts of exceptional bravery. This day of 6th September is celebrated with great patriotism and enthusiasm in the country. It starts with special prayers for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan. The President and Prime Minister along with other ministers of Islamic Republic of Pakistan address the people. The Army of Pakistan displays the latest missiles, tanks, guns, army aviation helicopters and armament being used by Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical corps, Army Air Defence, Signals, Army Service Corps and Army Medical Corps. Everyone is allowed to watch such functions live by going to the specific venues. These shows are also displayed on national T.V channels. National songs and special documentaries about the events and the martyrs of 6th September war are displayed on T.V. Dear students we celebrate the Defence of Pakistan Day every year to keep reminding the new generations about how the armed forces of Pakistan, solidly backed by the entire nation, had defeated the Indian invaders. It should also be observed as a thanksgiving day. In line with the spirit and national unity, we should all be praying for safety, security and solidarity of Pakistan. We must pray for the freedom and honour of our God- given motherland Pakistan for now and always. Pakistan Zindabaad!
