SUBJECT : 2019 DIVISION SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND MATHEMATICS FAIR ( DSTM F )

DATE : September 2, 2019

1. This Office announces the conduct of the 2019 Division Science, Technology and Mathematics
Fair (DSTMF) dubbed as “SCIMATECH 1.0: Panagtagbo ug Pasundayag sa Kaalam “ with the
theme: Reinventing the Future: Advancing Communities Through Science, Technology
and Innovations on September 30, 2019 - October 1, 2019.

2. The objectives of DSTMF are:


a. promote Science, Technology and Mathematics consciousness and a culture of innovation
among the youth
b. aims to identify the most creative and innovative student researchers from the Junior and
Senior High School who shall represent the country in the International Science Research
Fairs.

3 In view thereof, all schools/districts are encourage to conduct school /district level competitions
and other science related activities in line with the National Science Month Celebration for the
month of September and in preparation for the 2019 DSTMF.

4. The Division Science, Technology and Mathematics Fair will be conducted at the New Ormoc
City National High School Covered Court for the opening program on September 30, 2019
at exactly 1:00 p.m. Contest venues will be announced during the said program.

Qualified participants /contestants are the first place winners


 in every district for public elementary schools
 in every school for private elementary, junior & senior high school
 in every school for public junior and senior school
ALS learners are also encourage to participate the said competition.
Registration Fee of Php 100.00 for each of the contestant and coach will be collected to defray
expenses incurred relative to medals, certificates and trophies for the winners, lunch and
snacks for the contest facilitators & judges , honorarium for judges coming from
non-deped agencies and other incidental expenses shall be charged against local funds,
School MOOE, PTA, Science/YES O Club funds and other available sources..

Division first place winners for Science Investigatory Projects (SIP) and On-The-Spot Contest
will represent during the 2019 Regional Science, Technology and Math Fair (RSMTF) on
November 6-9, 2019 in Catbalogan City, Samar.. However, if in case the first place winner
cannot attend due to emergency or illness and any other valid reasons, the second place winner
will automatically replace the identified contestant.

5. Enclosed herewith are the list of the different activities/contest areas to be undertaken, guidelines/
criteria for judging, list of judges and the corresponding members of the different committees for
the 2019 Division Science, Technology and Math Fair. (DSTMF).

a. Soft copies of the SCIENCE INVESTIGATORY PROJECT (SIP) manuscript for both elementary and
secondary levels (junior / senior ) should be submitted on September 23, 2019 for pre-evaluation by the
judges and email to ciddepedormoc@gmail.com.
Setting up of SIP Poster displays should be done on September 30, 2019 at 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.at the
NOCNHS COVERED COURT for evaluators/judges to have time to interact/ask preliminary questions with
the young researchers and oral presentation/Science Congress will follow immediately.
b. Hardcopies (3 ) of the Strategic Intervention Materials (SIM) for teacher category should also be submitted on
September 23,2019 for a thorough pre-evaluation by the identified judges at the CID office, Dep Ed ,Ormoc
City Division.

6. Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is desired.

CRITERIA AND CONTEST GUIDELINES:

A. Shoutout
a. Each district shall come up with a “Shoutout” participated by all delegates of the district.
b. Maximum time is 30 seconds, video format.
c. The video must be clear including its audio.
d. It must contain the best tagline for their district. Example ,”Designing Organic Solutions-
Philippines!”
e. This will be presented during the opening program, and accompanied with video.
f. Copy of the video in CD must be submitted to the secretariat c/o Gay Ballais of
NOCNHS on September 27, 2019.
B. Poster Making
a. This is a team category , with all the delegates from the district as team members.
b. Each district must provide one (1) whole illustration board and any writing and drawing
materials.
c. The team will be given 1.5 hours to create the poster.
d. The orientation of the poster will be “portrait”
e. Only the official and registered learners will join. Coaches and other officials are not
allowed
