1. SCOPE
This specification covers the general requirements for the design, manufacturing, supply,
inspection of Fire alarm system to be installed at Jambi PLMTG SEI GELAM Project, of PT.
Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

2. CODE, AND STANDARD

CODES AND STANDARDS


Fire and Gas Detector shall be designed and made based on the latest edition of the following
standards
 NFPA-1: Fire Prevention Code
 NFPA-72: National Fire Alarm Code
 NFPA-75: Protection of Electronic Computer /Data Processing Equipment
 IEEE-472: Surge Withstand Capability
 NFPA-70: National Electric Code

3. REFERENCE DOCUMENT
This specification shall be refer to the following document
- Rencana Kerja dan Syarat-syarat Pekerjaan volume II section 2.7 I&C “ Instrumentation
& Control Works

4. DESIGN CONDITION
Equipment and Materials shall be designed manufactured for use under the following site
conditions:
 Ambient Temperature as Design basis
Maximum : 35 ºC
Minimum : 25 ºC
 RelativeHumidity for outdoor
Relative Humidity : 80 % - 90 %
 Rainfall (average yearly mean) : 182,2 mm
 Design wind velocity : 0.49 m/s
 Peak base acceleration (G) : 0.1 – 0.15 g
 Altitude : Less than 1000 meters from mean Sea Level

5. GENERAL REQUIREMENT
5.1 Vendor shall submit the detail installation procedure and installation drawing for each
hazards monitoring detectors.
5.2 Each detectors shall be provided with terminal box. Electrical cable connection shall be

5.3 Electrical power for the detector shall be 24 V DC.


5.4 End of line resistors shall be provided respectively, except for combustible gas detector
5.5 Material to be required for installation, such as mounting bracket, bolts & nuts, base plate,
etc, shall be supplied by vendor.
5.6 Only hermetically sealed relays shall be used for hazards monitoring detectors.
5.7 The color of Fire & Gas Detector shall be safety red.
5.8 The Fire alarm shall have stainless steel Nameplate permanently placed on detectors. The
Nameplate shall inform the Tag Number, Manufacturer, Model and Serial of the Fire
alarm as minimum.

6. INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENT
6.1 SMOKE DETECTOR
 Sensor : Ionization/Photoelectric type
 Detector Output : Voltage free contact, rating 5 Amp, at 24
VDC.
 Power Supply : 24 VDC
 Sensitivity Area : 10 m x 10 m, (3 adjustable field area).
 Factory Set Point : Medium sensitivity level
 Electrical Classification Area : Non-hazardous Area
 Enlosure : Manufacture Std.
 Installation : Indoor

6.2 HEAT DETECTOR


 Sensor Construction : Rate of rise Heat Sensing Cable
 Sensor Type : Bimetal or Manufacture standard
 Temp. Setting : 87 ºC or higher
 Contact temp. rise : Close/open, contact rating 5 Amp, at 24 VDC
 Shell/head : Stainless Steel/Brass
 Electrical Classification Area : Class 1,Div. 2,Group D.

7. TEST AND INSPECTION


The vendor shall arrange and carry out the tests and inspections in accordance with the
requirements as specified in Requisition of Fire alarm Detector.

8. WARRANTY
The vendor shall guarantee the Fire alarm from design failure, defective conditions, improper
material, malperformance, poor/defect in workmanship and failure on normal operation within
12 (twelve) month period since the equipment is operated or 18 (eighteen)months since the
equipment is installed.
