5th Grade Landscapes: Outcomes

By the end of the 5th grade landscapes unit, students were able to create detailed landscape paintings using principles of perspective, composition, and color theory. They learned about the foreground, middleground, and background layers of landscapes from different cultures. Students' work was initially assessed through group discussion and finally through a rubric based on the skills taught, such as perspective, contrasting colors, and compositional balance. The unit goals were for students to understand how art reflects culture and to plan and communicate meaning in their own landscape paintings.
