Statement of Purpose

My name is Akshay Kumar Patel, residing in Anand, Gujarat State. I have completed my
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering From Dr. Jivraj Mehta Institute of Technology, Mogar in
May,2018 with 8.6 CGPA

Our ability to innovate and create a new opportunity is one of the main reasons why the
population continues to grow and thrive. When I was young, I had fascinated to accumulate
of distinct machine parts and I was disassembled various instruments in leisure time. My
family has had a small corner of my house all contraptions that I have dreamed to into
hopes of making routine life more efficient and cozy. With advent of technology, I used
internet in order to gain knowledge of its design and working principal of components. This
passion led to me pursue of mechanical engineering during my college. During my job, I
have learned basic design concepts and various standards such as ISO and ASME.
Moreover, I focus of better design of machine and gearboxes that could ensure greater
safety and efficiency. However, some complex engineering problem which require core skill
of design and intellectual skills for analysis of structure. particularly, to focus on innovative
design that are combination of erogonic and aesthetic product., I have opted course of
engineering design and drafting in southern Alberta institutes of technology ,which will
prepare me to enter the industry and to solve problem of real world.

My respect and inclination towards the technology drove me opt for science stream in major
higher secondary school. Advancement of technology always amused me and I was eager
to explore and learn which helped me to secure good score. To excel in academics, I have
been able to secure scholarship from government during 4 years of bachelor undergraduate
study. Engineering would be appropriate area which would provide me plenty of opportunity
to deal with practical problem. My strength has always been power of imagination and
analytical thinking that allow me to take possible path. Thus, mechanical engineering was
consequence of my convictions.

Although I have participated in plethora of events and contests in college, I accomplished


award and rewards as a winner of robo maze competition. Specifically, we made remote
controlled robot that passed from different hurdles on tracks with aid of fellows. Contrarily, I
acquired knowledge of design and manufacturing practices from well-known organization
such as GACL, Adani Power, and ISRO. Besides that, I did internship in material handling
division for one month in Elecon Engineering Pvt. Ltd. In prestigious company where I
upgraded myself and many fundamentals how it can be applicable in real world. Hence, I
gained hands on experience of working in professional environments and projects.
With solid foundation of engineering, We make a solar air dehumidifier as a final year project
with my fellow. The objective is dehumidifying of indoor air without utilizing conventional
energy source. We are making 3d model as well as piping by using Solidwork Parametric
Software to optimize design and cost of model. My research on design of piping and solar
components throughout my undergraduate career served as a cornerstone of my
engineering experience, allowing me to discover actual concept of practical design and
industrial purpose. In undergraduate program, I have acquired strong background of
fundamental of basic mechanical engineering. Subjects Such as Engineering design, fluid
dynamics, thermodynamics, manufacturing process, machine design and strength of
material revealed no boundary horizon of mechanical field. The 4 year of engineering not
only provided me fundamental of engineering, but also has encouraged me to learn more
about and research skills.

Since after my graduation, I have been working as a mechanical engineer in design


department of Elecon engineering private limited. I collaborated with project team and
branch manager to gain specification detail of gearboxes. They integrated several aspect of
my design into product to increase flexibility. My job experience showed me how gear
technology element could be used for efficient power transmission.

I had started work as a mechanical engineer, and I was looking forward to working in
research and design. However, one of the team members resigned on last moment of the
major project, we were forced to take on duties that we had few months of experience. I
found that being able to virtually create and manipulate material allowed me to think more
creatively and it is a skill hope to continue to enhance my study in design engineering.

My roles to make CAD model of gearboxes and making drawing for manufacturing.
However, I go to shop to assess the quality of product from design perspective. I also
helped to change design when necessary utilizing new design that would be great for
economic and aesthetic perspective.my experience has shown me that engineering offers a
wealthy opportunity.

Engineering design and drafting technology course introduces about various fundamentals
of design as they applied to segment of industry. Design engineering focuses on design,
evaluation and prototype aspect of innovation and modification. This course is a well-known
course in which I learn mathematical and scientific technique that are involved in product
and system adoption. With research, prototype and modification helps me achieving
customer’s demand. After completing course it provides. The professionals in this field that
are directed towards understanding and designing products and system generating
productivity for organization.

Southern Alberta institute of technology is one of the top rated colleges in Calgary. This
college continues to grow every year by offering new programs, new research opportunities
and improved lab and classroom amenities. International students can work part time up to
20 hours per week while studying. Programs are designed to prepare students for
employment and professional designation. With world class education offered to me in
Canada, I would be able to access many more opportunities than I would in my home
country. I look forward to all opportunities that a Canadian education will offer me, and hope
to reflect the values and viewpoints that I learn both while abroad and I return home. I
believe that with my Canadian education, I will be a better candidate for research jobs
around the world. This educational opportunity will not only prepare me with cutting-edge
knowledge and training, but will also equip me with open mindset that can adjust to variety
of situation. Canada will open my mind to new experience and knowledge which will enable
me to be a better physician in my future.

Moreover, I have fascinated towards innovation through combination of creativity and


fundamental knowledge of the field
