Darkest Dungeon Advanced Class Tips

This document provides tips for several advanced classes in Darkest Dungeon: - The Abomination works well controlling battles with Osmond chains and Broken key while retaining useful camping skills in human form. - The Antiquarian's damage is low so have companions assist; Curious incantation ensures no wasted respite points but Trinket scrounge is only useful early on. - For the Arbalest, only mark enemies if multiple heroes benefit and use as a secondary healer equipped with healing trinkets. - The Musketeer isn't recommended as her trinkets dilute the pool without benefiting the Arbalest.

Darkest Dungeon advanced class tips 1

Abomination
Don’t feel compelled to transform in every
battle, he’s still quite useful in human form.
His unique camping skills are inefficient, so he
can carry the versatile shared skills into the
expedition while losing little himself.
Osmond chains combined with Broken key
make for an extremely effective control
character.

Antiquarian
Her damage output is lower than all the other
classes, have her companions pick up the slack.
Curious incantation is a great filler skill that
ensures respite points aren’t wasted.
Trinket scrounge is excellent in the early game
but a time-waster afterwards, considering the
variable quality of the trinkets it can find.

Arbalest
Marking and then attacking with the same
character is extremely innefficient. Only worry
about marks if multiple characters benefit from
them.
Arbalest can work as a primary healer when
equipped with the best healing trinkets, but this
is a little risky. Secondary healer
recommended.

Musketeer
You’re better off not having the musketeer
active. She just bloats the trinket pool with
trinkets that are identical, but incompatible
with the arbalest’s. She weakens your estate by
reducing your chances of receiving useful
trinkets.

Bounty hunter
He’s perfectly viable in rank 3, yet few people
seem to use him there. The only thing he’s
missing is Uppercut.
Planned takedown is very time-inefficient for
the okay buffs it gives. Okay for bosses.
Bounter hunter has great synergy with himself
and is probably the best class in the game to
run in multiples.

Crusader
Non-euclidian hilt is cool, but the benefits are
meager in practise.
His unique camping skills make him a
formidable stress healer, out of battle at least.
Inspiring cry is just better than Battle heal most
of the time. The 1 or 2 extra health from BH
isn’t worth anything at death’s door.
Bulwark of faith is the most “useful” as a free
torch.

Flagellant
A good choice for DD4, he will heal your party
when sacrificed.
Endure gets much better when leveled up.
Gather stress then remove it with Lash’s solace
at camp. Watch out for stress spikes.
Reclaim is good to spam towards the end of a
fight, since it continues out of combat and can
stress heal with crits.

Grave robber
Poison dart has a poor damage output. Don’t
put too much value on trinkets that improve it.
Pilfer can save a tough expedition by producing
food.
Combo Glinting daggers with Harvest.

Hellion
It’s bad to use multiple character’s who belong
to Outsider’s bonfire since the benefit doesn’t
stack. Fortunately, they work poorly together
anyway.
Barbaric yawp provides massive control over
the flow of battle. Don’t fear the debuff, it’s
worth it.
She is one of the very few characters with
reliable damage output against every enemy
position. She can patch up gaps your offense
your other heroes cause.

Highwayman
Riposte is absolutely busted against anything
except the Countess. Exploit it.
His Crimson Court set is perfect for virtue
cheesing in the Farmstead.
+Melee effects affect riposte and should be
used. -Melee effects should be avoided for the
same reason.

Tips for the rest of the classes in the sequel.

Move resist is worth very little.
