Q:1 ATTEMPT THE FOLLOWING (2+3=5)
(A) Q.3 Given S=4ax-2az, Z=6ax-7ay+9az, Determine 2
(a) (S+Z) × (S-Z) (b) Sin θSZ
(c) A unit vector perpendicular to both S&Z. (d) The component of S along Z.

(B) State Maxwell’s equations in point and integral form and explain physical significance 3
of the equations.
Q:2 ATTEMPT THE FOLLOWING (5×2=10)
(A) Explain spherical coordinate system in detail. 5
(B) Infinite uniform line charge of 5 nC/m, lie along the positive and negative x and y axes 5
and 3 nC/m 2 at z=−4 in free space. Find E at point P(0,0,7).
OR
(A) Using Gauss’s law for differential volume element prove that div D=ρv. 5
(B) Evaluate both side of stokes theorem for the field H = (6 r sinØ) ar + (18 r sinθ cosØ) 5
aØ, surface specified by r=4, 0 ≤ θ ≤ 0.1 π , 0 ≤ Ø ≤ 0.3 π .
Q:3 ATTEMPT THE FOLLOWING (5×2=10)
(A) Deduce the boundary conditions with necessary derivations (i) at the interface between 5
two dielectric materials with permittivitiesε1 and ε2 and (ii) at the interface between
two magnetic materials with permeabilitiesμ1 and μ2.
(B) Calculate the total electric flux leaving the cubical surface formed by six planes x, y, z 5
= ±5 if the charge distribution is: (i) two point charges, 0.56 μC at (2.5, -3.6, - 4.7) and
1/7 μC at (-3, 4.5, -4.9); (ii) a uniform line charge of π μC/m at x = 3, y = 4.5; (iii) a
uniform surface charge of 0.1 μC/m2 on the plane y = 4x.
OR
(A) An infinitely long coaxial cable is carrying current I by the inner conductor of radius 5
‘a’ and –I by the outer conductor of radii ‘b’ and ‘c’. where c>b. Deduce the
expressions for H at
i)ρ< a (ii) a <ρ < b (iii) b < ρ < c (iv) ρ > c. Sketch the plot of H as a function of radius.
(B) If V = 60sinθ / r2 volt in the free space and point P is located P(3, 600, 250). Find (a.)
Vp (b.) Ep (c.) dV/dN at P (d.) aN at P (e.) ρv at P.
