Pre-Job Requirements Checklist

The document outlines pre-job requirements for a cementing operation, including: 1. Ensuring equipment is properly maintained and tested, chemical quantities are confirmed, and well conditions are prepared through mud circulation. 2. Holding pre-job meetings to review and agree on procedures, contingencies, and responsibilities. 3. Taking necessary fluid samples to allow time for re-running lab tests if the cement recipe needs to change.

Pre-Job Requirements Checklist

Service Provider Action Items

• Thoroughly read approved cementing program.
• Perform a Standard Equipment Maintenance (STEM I) check on all cement fluid equipment.
• Ensure equipment is properly primed and ready for the job. Ensure back up system is functional.
• Pressure test cement unit manifold preferably 24 hours prior to the job.
• Present pre-job STEM’s reports and pressure tests charts to company cement engineer and keep on file for job package.
• Perform Risk Assessment on location.
• Complete all Checklists as per the service provider standards.
• Hold pre-job meeting with company rep. and agree on final procedures, volumes, etc. Any major deviations to be discussed
with town.
• Confirm chemical LOTs. Contact town as early as possible upon questions.
• Check the chloride content for spacer mix fluid is less than 1000 ppm.
• Ensure Job Monitoring System is set up and running
• Prior to the job, perform a freshwater density test with pressurized mud balance, in case a value different from 8.32 lb/gal is
found, please calibrate the equipment accordingly.
• If not already done before, measure the surface line volume and include this in final displacement.
Rig Action Items
• Carefully read through approved cementing program
• Follow the centralizers distribution plan as proposed in the cementing program to get good circumferential.
• Discuss contingency plans with Cementing Crew prior to job.
• Plan to place a viscous heavy mud pill into rat hole.
• Ensure to have enough water on site for cementing operation & cleaning the unit after job.
• Ensure a) to clean pit & transfer lines used for cement job fresh water. Lock out and tag valves to avoid contamination.
b) Or, to arrange for a direct transfer of fresh water from water wells to cement equipment (more preferred).
• Ensure to have sufficient power source for the cementing equipment & to be planned prior to each job with SLB supervisors.
• Circulate the well at least 1 Bottom/Up. Confirm well is free of drilling cuttings and is prepared to receive cement. If cuttings
are noticed, circulation should be continued until return is clean.
• It is highly recommended to decrease the mud yield point as much as possible prior to cementing.
• Add a tracer to the mud while circulation to fluid calliper the well and review against the WL calliper, volumes might need to
be updated in case of discrepancy.
• Make sure to have certified crossovers and connections which will be exposing pressure during cementing operation.
Pre-Job Safety Meeting
• Ensure all crew members participating in the cement job are present and assigned responsibilities.
• Ensure to discuss detailed step by step procedure of cement job.
• Ensure to discuss all risk and contingencies including max. job time, min. cement volume, max displacement volume.
HSE & Quality check
• All requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are listed on the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and
available on the rig
• MSDS of all products are available on the rig.
• Density of all fluids pumped will be checked with a Pressurized Mud Balance.
• Spacer rheology will be checked against design at the mud laboratory on the rig
Minimum Sample Requirements
• 11 kg (25 lb) per blend with a minimum of 5 lb (2.3 kg) from each silo/transport silo
• 4-L of Field Water
• 4-L of Mix Fluid
• 4 L of Actual fluid in the well
• 4 L of Spacer
• Appropriate additives QTY to perform lab testing on total cement/blend sample
Sampling Notes: - Samples are to be taken as soon as possible after the materials have been received on the rig in order
to allow enough time for running and/or re-running lab tests in case of the recipe changes.
- Samples of fresh Water also need to be sent in ASAP.
- All sample container labels must detail Date, Client, Rig, Well, Additive, Silo/Batch Number, Job Type, and Supervisor.
