REINFORCEMENT

The document provides information on steel reinforcement bars used in reinforced concrete structures. It lists the unit weights of common steel bar diameters ranging from 8mm to 32mm. It also gives the density of steel as 7850 kg/cubic meter. The permissible stress value for steel is listed as 0.55 times the yield strength. Reinforcement requirements are provided for various structural elements like slabs, beams, columns, etc. Minimum and maximum steel ratios are specified. Details on bend lengths, lap splices, and concrete cover requirements are also included. Common steel grades used in reinforcement in India are mentioned along with their yield strengths.
