1. UPDATE FILES
The firmware release is supplied as a zip file containing the following files:

• Dipsoft.dat
• Readme.txt

The Dipsoft.dat file includes the update in itself and includes 7 files.

The Readme.txt file, which can be opened with the WINDOWS Notepad, contains a summary of the
procedure, the firmware versions to be installed and the password allowing the loading of the new
firmware through the HMI.

2. GENERAL REMARKS

The update operation makes part of the maintenance.

The equipment will not be available during the procedure.
The installations must be locked in a safe state (steps 2 to 4 of paragraph 5) to avoid any incident (e.g.
unwanted command).

The procedure is divided in two parts:

1. Installing the update 7 files package on the hard disk of the computer.
2. Starting the update with HMI.

3. FILES INSTALLING

First, you must create a temporary directory in your hard disk (e.g.C:\diptemp) and copy to that location
the zipped update file provided. Extract the 7 files package dipsoft.dat and readme.txt in this directory
with a utility like WinZip.

Open the readme.txt file with the WINDOWS Notepad and record the password (15 characters), you will
be prompted later to type it from the HMI.

Copy the dipsoft.dat file to the installation directory of the HMI application (default is C:\Program
Files\AREVA\HMI Dip5000). If a dipsoft.dat file left from a previous update is present in the directory, you
will be prompted for replacing it by the new one, choose the YES button to confirm.

4. UPDATING
1. Switch off the DIP5000 equipment.
2. Unplug input/output connectors P11 to P13.
3. Unplug transmission line access connector P18 if connected.
4. Unplug optical connectors from the rear side of IR182 module if connected.
5. Switch on the DIP5000 equipment.
6. Connect the serial communication, with CR350 cable, between the computer and the DIP5000.
7. Start the HMI application and set up the connection using the "Tools/Connect" menu item.
8. Select the "Tools/Password" menu.

9. Type in the 15-character password from the readme.txt file (you can also copy it from the notepad
and paste it into the password input-line of the HMI), then click on the OK or Valid button. The current
and new versions of the firmware for DSP and EPLD are displayed (some of them can be the same,
especially EPLD reference).

10. Choose the Upload or Start button to launch the update procedure.

11. The following steps are automatic, a window with a progress bar shows the progression of the
procedure. Once the upload is complete, the DIP5000 equipment resets automatically.

Once the procedure is started, you must wait until it ends. Don't try to stop it by resetting the HMI
application or by switching-off the DIP5000 equipment or disconnecting the serial link. Such actions
could damage the equipment, requiring return-to-factory to unlock or repair it.

In case of transmission errors occurring during upload, the following message appears:

If this message appears several time, means you have some difficulties to update the equipment, you have
to decrease the speed of your serial link to 9600 bps.

You are then invited to resume the procedure from step 7.

Once the upgrade procedure is completed, check the version of firmware with the HMI using the
"Read/Local/Version" menu item.

1. Switch off the DIP5000.

2. Replace the connectors (points 2 to 4).
3. Switch on the DIP5000.

End of update procedure.

Once all the updates are carried out, you may suppress the C:\diptemp directory from your hard disk
drive and erase the dipsoft.dat file from the HMI directory.

Final step:
Once all the updates are carried out, you may reset the event and alarm files.
