The Dr. Solomon U. Molina College (DSUMC) which is named after its founder, Dr. Solomon
U. Molina, the Director and Dean of the College is located at Purok II, Villaflor, Oroquieta City.
The college started first in 1992 offering non – degree programs such as speech and grammar. Its
name was SM Development Center with its campus located at Purok I, Vilaflor, Oroquieta City.
Professionals as well as elementary and high school students attended classes in speech and
grammar during Saturday and summer classes. The remarkable improvements that the
participants had gained in terms of their speaking abilities had made the school prevalent.
In 1994, due to demands from the community, and because Preschool Education was not
yet institutionalized in the public schools that time, the school opened preschool. Then in 1996,
Elementary Education was five years later. In 1998, the school saw the need to offer Secondary
Education to serve the needs of the incoming first year students. Additionally, to accommodate
students who did not have the opportunity to attend schooling from the remote barangays of
Aloran, the College put up an Annex School in Sinampongan and the nearby barangays, had
caused the decline in the enrolment at DSUMC since the students were absorbed into these
integrated schools.
With the growing demand for college that offers the lowest tuition fee rates, the school
believed it appropriate to offer collegiate courses. Henceforth, in 2004, the Tertiary level was
opened with the following degrees:
The institution’s name had been changed to Dr. Solomon U. Molina College as required
by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The camps was transferred to Purok 1, Villaflor,
Oroquieta City where the classes of Preschool, Elementary, Secondary and Collegiate levels
were held and up to the present. The college was able to produce graduates who passed the
Licensure Examination for Teachers and who had been absorbed as teachers euther in private
and public elementary schools.
However, due to few enrollments which did not meet the requirement set by CHED, the
two courses, BSPA and AB Mass Communication were phased out.
Despite odds and diversities, DSUMC will continue to achieve its goals, mission and
vision to able to contribute to the nation’s goal of producing graduates who are life – long
learners.
