Introduction
• Planning is important for socioeconomic development,it helps to conceive and achieve results
in an atmosphere.

• Planning is essentially a process of making choice between available alternatives at all levels
of decision making.

• It is an fundamental elements of administration.

Aims and objectives of educational administration


• To provide efficient social life to the students and thus to prepare them in the art of living
together.

• To bring school or college and community closer to each other.

• To prepare the students for some vocation or profession.

• To help the students in unfolding and blossoming of their personality.

• To enable the students to have the right type of philosophy of life.

• To conserve all the good practices and conventions of the past.

• To help in the realization of objectives of education.

• To bring harmony between the plans and the tasks.

• To make maximum use of all educational facilities in order to attain the desired objectives.

• To provide healthy atmosphere for experimentation and research.

Functions of educational administration
1. Organizational: which includes finance,budgeting,planning of equipment,personnel and
pastoral care of students.

1. Curricular: which includes design implementation,review, monitoring and evaluation.

1. External: relationship between the institutions and external bodies such as national and
regional bodies.
Planning
• It is very essential for proper conversion of purposes into action.

• It is useful because it clarifies what is to be done and also it saves time and money.

• It increases efficiency and effectiveness in the field of educational institution.


Authorities should have laid emphasis on following points
• Formulation of objectives in the context of educational requirement and available resources.

• Formulation of activities and specific programmes of the educational institutions.

• Evaluation of continuous behaviors and performance of job done.

• To bring practice all the thought plans.


Importance of planning
• It attempts to forseeing the future and bringing about preparedness for the happening in the
future.

• It focuses attention on the objectives or goals of the organization.

• It helps in controlling the activities.

• It helps in co-ordinating the operations of an organization.


Principles in planning
• It must focus on purposes.

• It is an continuous process which includes series of steps.

• In planning there should be a good harmony with organization and environment.

• It should be pervasive activity,covering the entire organization,and it should be balanced.

• In planning the provision should be made to use all available resources.

• Planning is an hierachial in nature and must have an organizational identification.


Staffing pattern for nursing educational programme
1. Professor-cum-principal:
*master degree in nursing
* 10 yrs of experience &minimum 5 yrs of teaching experience.

2. Professor-cum-vice principal:
*same as principal

3. Reader/associate professor
*master degree in nursing.
*7 yrs of experience & 3 yrs experience in teaching.

Lecturer:
*master degree in nursing.
*3 yrs experience.

5. Tutor/clinical instructor:
*m.sc nursing/b.sc with 1 yr experience.

Guidelines for establishment of new nursing schools/colleges in india approved by inc
* any organization under the central
Government,state government,local body
Or a private or public trust,mission wishes
to open anm training school,should obtain
The no objection /essentiality certificate
From the state government.
• * the inc on receipt of the proposal from the institution to start anm training program,will
undertake the 1st inspection to assess the suitability with regard to physical infrastucture,clinical
facility,teaching faculty
• After the receipt of the permission to start the nursing programme from inc,the institution
shall obtain the approval from the state nursing council examination board institution will
admit the students only after taking approval of state nursing council and examination
board.
• Institution will admit the students only after taking approval of state nursing council and
university.

• Super speciality hospital can start m.sc(nursing) programme, after getting noc/essentiality
certificate from respective state government.
Upgradation from school to college
• Any “ school of nursing” can upgrade to “college of nursing” provided one batch of students
have passed out after found suitable by inc.

• After upgradation institution can stop the gnm programme.

• Documents to be submitted to inc for upgradation.


Guidelines for establishing a bachelor of nursing program in india
Purpose:

to assist those who are desirous of initiating a b.sc nursing program and establishing a college of
nursing.

Establishing b.sc nursing program:


1. Controlling authority:
administrative control- a college of nursing offering a b.sc nusing program may be
conducted under the auspices of the following;

*government

*university

*private organization

 the college needs to be either affliated or constituted to the university according to the
pattern of university when the college is proposed to be start.
Academic control
• University:
*board of studies in nursing
*faculty of nursing/medicine/sciences.
*academic council/senate.

• Inc/state nursing council:


*recognition of qualification
*registration.

Governing body:
It may be government,university or private organization.
Committee organization:
• College council
• General stff committee
• Curriculum committee
• Student welfare committee
• Anti-ragging committee.
Financing and budgeting
• The financial powers of the principal should be similar to an other head of an educational
institutionwhich will be laid down in the finance code.

• About rs.20,000-25,000/student is required for qualifying a graduate of a 4 years course.


Nursing school administration:
Minimum requirements:
• Appropriate staffs
• Physical facilities
• Clinical facilities
• Hostel facilities.

1. B.sc:
age-17 yrs
Passed xiith standard
Medically fit.

M.phil
• It helps the student to achieve a meaningful philosophy of life.
• Objective:
*to strengthen the research foundation of nurses.
*to provide basic training for research in doctoral degree.
Doctorate of philosophy
• Eligibility criteria:

• Post graduation with 55% of aggregate marks.


• Should have research background.
