    A. How does traditional and folk dances give empowerment to the culture
    of its different origins such as provinces, tribes and ethic group, and to
    the country Philippines?

    Culture is one of the identities of a certain nation. The Philippines was


    known for its rich culture and tradition that was mold and build by time and
    history. With the used of traditional and folk dances, it becomes an instrument to
    uplift the Filipino culture to be well known nationally and more importantly
    internationally. In our country, the variety of folk dances are abundant. The
    Philippines has seventeen regions in total from all the three main islands: Luzon,
    Visayas, and Mindanao. Each of those places there has a distinct culture and folk
    dances that were preserved and still practice by some locals. It only shows that
    Filipinos do care about the tradition that we have, and they believe that it is also
    the best way to promote their place.

    One of the common traits of Filipinos is that we love to celebrate


    occasions. During occasions, it is also the time of gathering and having a sharing
    of food to eat on by different people who were there to witness and have fun with
    the locals. To give an example, in the region of Cordillera, specifically in Baguio
    City which is known to be summer capital of the Philippines, visitor either locals
    or foreign go there not just because of its cold weather but also to learn the
    culture and tradition of native and indigenous groups in Cordillera.

    The term tradition and folk dances have a deeper meaning lie on it. It
    speaks more than its definition. Through folk dances, it unites Filipino people
    across this archipelago and it brings us to be proud of our own identity. It is
    amazing to think that the folk dances that we have are unique compared to the
    folk dances of other countries as well. We may have the past of being ruled by
    another country but that did not stop us in making our own that is patterned
    originally and authentically of Filipino lives.

    B. As a Filipino student, why traditional and folk dances should be


    observed in Philippines school?

    The young generation of the Philippines, in which I belong to is


    responsible for looking and preserving our tradition and folk dances. As what late
    President Jose P. Laurel said in his 1994 speech he addressed the youth on
    this "I shall be happy to say a few words to you later in connection with the
    integration movement of the Filipino youth not only in the public and private
    schools but of all Filipino young men and women all over the islands so that the
    youth of the land may be not only a strong factor in supporting this government
    and in making this Republic an enduring nation but also so that with the help and
    cooperation and loyalty of the Filipino youth, we may be in a position to transmit
    as a heritage to future generations a country, a people, compact and united in
    the bonds of a common affection.” It was an emphasis on that message that the
    youth are the future of our nation, my generation will soon be the leaders and
    more importantly the working people of this country.

    It is relevant that during young age, children will have an appreciation and
    knowledge about our tradition and folk dances. School is one of the institutions
    that is a task to teach students of it. And as a student, we should also put our
    heart in learning it, and better apply what we learned into something that can
    contribute to the growth of our tradition and folk dances. Our simple way of
    dancing folk dances during "Linggo ng Wika" and other school programs shows
    how we showcase the rich and unique folk dances that we have and by that, it
    gives an impact in awareness of students and also to their family as well.

    Even in higher schools like universities and colleges they also required
    students to participate and promote activities that are related to tradition and folk
    dances. We, students, main purpose is to study but we must also not forget that
    the capabilities that we have are needed and useful for the improvement and
    empowerment of the certain culture and tradition that we belong to. The future of
    our country belongs in our hands now.
