assistance. The conventional brake system remains functional
even without ABS. A change in braking behaviour is to be reck‐

warning lamp - K118- -4- light up, then the anti-lock brake sys‐
tem is defective. A change in braking behaviour is to be
reckoned with.
WARNING

Note
Before pressing piston back into cylinder with piston resetting tool,
draw off brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise, partic‐
ularly if reservoir has been topped up, fluid will overflow and cause
damage.
– Insert inner brake pad (piston side) -1- and outer brake pad
-2- into brake caliper with retaining springs.
♦ Inner brake pad (piston side) with large 3-finger clip -1-.

Installing
– Install brake hose in reverse order; secure in position with clip
to prevent twisting.
– Remove brake pedal depressor - V.A.G 1869/2- .
– Bleed brake system ⇒ page 99 .
– Fit wheels.
Tightening torques:
Brake lines to brake hose 14 Nm
Brake hose to brake caliper 35 Nm
