2. SCRIPT.
Today we are in Gachancipá, it is the smallest town of Sabana Centro, here you can visit
wonderful and historical places , we tell you some of them. Enjoy the trip.
We are at principal park of Gachancipá, its name is José Danilo Daza, and this place
received this name for an important leader that was volunteer at Defensa Civil, and helped
a lot the children in his neighborhood, brought them support for doing activities that
permited grew up their personalities.
LA GACHA MONUMENT
Gachas are big pots, made of clay, and on it Muiscas, cooked salty water to made solid
pieces of salt, for that reason they made the gachas and they provided towns as Nemocon
and Zipaquira that were the principal centers of salt production .
The name of the town was given by these pots. The monument is located at the southwest
corner into the principal park, here you must take a photograph for having a good memory
of your journey.
As well as, Gachancipa were the potter town in this zone. Until century XVIII they made
gachas using clay, but in the XIX century they were replaced by metal pots.
For that resason la Gacha is the most important and representative symbol in the town ,
because it remember the hard and beautiful work of these aborigines, and the hard fight
they had against spanish people. This is the identity symbol of Gachancipa.
THE CULTURAL HOUSE.
Folowing our travel behind the Gacha´s monument, we can see the Cultural House.
This house is historical heritage of Gachancipa, firstly it was the cural house,and nobody
knows exactly when was built it. Popular stories tell this house was shelter of Simón
Bolívar, during the liberty campaign.
Nowadays, this colonial house receives in tis rooms a lot of gachancipeños, that are
learning different arts, as music, dance, paint, and in its principal and bigger room is
located the municipal library, in this place you can breath an air of history and ancient
memories, you have to enjoy a peaceful time for reading a book.
Well. Maybe, Simon Bolivar, could feel peace and he had some meditations about liberty.
This house has the name of Gonzalo Arango Cultural house, this name is a tribute to this
important Colombian poet that was creator of nadaism movement, and he died in a car
accident on the ways of Gachancipá.
On 1994 this house was named as historical monument of the town .
THE LOURDES VIRGIN SANCTUARY CAVE
It is one of the most important religious places in Gachancipá, the story tells between years
1948 and 1949 at san Bartolome village, some workers were working removing big pieces
of stones to build bridges in the region and suddenly a pair of workers found a piece of the
Stone with the Lourdes Virgin on it, this piece was during a long time on the cave, and
population made there an altar for praying there. Some time later, the stone was carring until
the principal church and there the stone disappeared, nobody knows anything about the stone.
This sanctuary is at a distance of one kilometer from the downtown. And it was built for
preserving the memory to have found a piece of stone with a virgin image on it.
People get used to write its name in a piece of Stone and some personal requests, and put it
into the cave. This place was conditioned in honor to all miracles that the virgin has done.
All the first Saturdays of the months population offers rosaries at doon. This place is involved
by the native and exotic vegetation, and you can feel there an atmosphere of peace and
security
THE TRAIN STATION
This is only museum of this kind in Cundinamarca, this is like a time machine. It is an old
construction made of bareque that is a mix of branches and mud, it is about 130 years old,
there you can see and know and imagine the way which ancient people lived in old times.
This house had all its structure,and it has got on it some traditional tools which were used
by the ancient peasants. It is a wonderful experience, there you have to enjoy the landscapes,
because the mountains transmit new vibration for our bodies
The hosts there are kind and they explain so well and in an easy way what is each think in
the house, as how worked the three stones stove, or when is the perfect time for seeding and
obtain a bumper harvest.
Also you should learn the diference between the different kind of seeds, and enjoy the birds
song.
This museum opened its doors in 2013, the owners have been collecting a lot of objects, kits,
and furnitute of these times. The collection is more attractive than other, because has been
obtained with a lot of dedication.
