Examples of physics in our daily life
Explanation:
This is an example of Newton’s first law because it states that every object will
remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its
state by the action of an external force. It is a common sense that when a ball is on
the ground, it won’t move till someone kicks it or some other force acts on it.
Explanation:
This is an example of Newton’s first law because an unbalanced force is needed to
move the book on the table. It could supply the force by pushing the book. An
unbalanced force is needed to change the speed or direction of the spacecraft.
- A pen falls down on the ground
Explanation:
This is an example of Newton’s second law because when the pen falls down from a
certain height, the acceleration increases because of the gravitational force.
- Pushing a box
Explanation:
This is an example of Newtons second law because it is easier to push an empty box
than a full one. The full box has more mass than the empty one. This means that
more force is required to push the full box.
- Walking
Explanation:
This is an example of Newton’s third law because whenever people walk, their foot
exerts a force on the ground. The ground then exerts an equal force which points in
the opposite direction. Note that the two action-reaction forces that are described by
the Third Law of Motion.
- Washing Machine
The dryer of washing machine is a rapidly rotating container that applies centrifugal
force to its contents. The centrifugal force acts in a direction away from the centre
and hence can be used to throw the water molecules on the clothes radially outwards
during the spin cycle of the washing machine.
- Sound game
When a water bottle fills up, the air column or amount of air inside the bottle
decreases. As a result, the pitch (or shrillness) of the sound will increase, as it is
inversely proportional to the length of vibrating air column. Therefore, you can tell
exactly when the bottle is full without even looking.
- Spinning
When the figure skater draws her arms and a leg inward, she reduces her moment of
inertia thus rotating at a faster angular speed. This is due to conservation of angular
momentum.
