TOPIC: DIGITAL SUPPLY CHAIN PLANNING(RESEARCH POSTER)

WORDS - 500

COMMENTS:
************************ Please ensure that you read all three sets of comments: the quick marks, the
general comments, and the rubric comments. ************************ General Comments:

You seem to have misunderstood the nature and purpose of this assignment. You were meant to be
identifying a research project: setting up a problem, aims and objectives, and a methodology for
tackling the problem. You have really just given a description of digital supply chain planning.

======================== Correspondence between marks awarded and marking scheme:

See detailed rubric. ======================== Possible improvements for the future: See
comments on rubric, the general comments above and 'quick comments' on work.

You need to read the assignment briefs carefully and follow the guidelines for producing your work.

Research Poster
This assignment contributes 20% of the total marks for this module.
The poster should give a general overview of the topic you intend to purse in your Postgraduate
Major Project. It is an initial outline of your topic, and it will be expanded in the second
assignment of this module, the Research Proposal.
The poster will include the research rationale and aims of your Major Project, along with an
initial look at the available literature in your topic area and your proposed research
methodology. The poster should be organised around the simple main headings “Introduction”,
"Literature", "Methodology"; these headings will help establish a logical flow to your poster. You
can create sub-headings and bullet points under these main headings.
You can enhance your poster with the use of graphics and images relevant to your research
topic.
So, in more detail, your poster should contain:
Title: this might be regarded as a working title, and ideally should mirror closely the content of
the poster. The title is particularly important for a poster. In general, a good title will establish a
strong focus and attract the attention of a reader.
Introduction: this informs the reader of the problem or situation in which you are interested, and
the context in which it is set. You should include some indication of the theoretical perspective
you intend to bring to your study. You should establish an initial research aim, and perhaps
some initial objectives and questions.
Literature: it is important that your research topic is located within a well-established body of
academic (and possibly professional) literature. Ideally, your research project will bring
something new to that literature, and fill a gap.
Methodology: although this aspect may be subject to revision, you should give an initial
indication of the research design and methodology for your project. In particular, it is important
that you establish a plan for collecting and analysing the necessary data to underpin your
project.
Your poster should not exceed 500 words (excluding title, references, etc.).
Rationale for assessment design
A research poster is commonly used – in academic conferences, and in the early stages of PhD
research – to outline early research ideas. Therefore a research poster is an ideal vehicle for
our first assignment. It allows you to sketch out the main lines of your research project in a brief
but well-structured form, and gives you a basis for the further development of your ideas.
Links to module learning outcomes
The researcher poster contributes to all 4 learning outcomes for this module:
Knowledge and Understanding. Demonstrate a critical awareness of different research designs
and respective methodologies relevant to academic and practitioner researchers working within
an international context.
Knowledge and Understanding. Explain their chosen research question/hypothesis and
research objectives, and all the relevant elements contributing to a research proposal suitable to
researching a contemporary international business topic.
Intellectual, practical, affective and transferrable skills. Critically evaluate the literature relevant
to their research aims in order to develop a conceptual framework or critical stance.
Intellectual, practical, affective and transferrable skills. Act as an independent self learner by
demonstrating the skills necessary to plan, organise, undertake and present a research project
as a poster/presentation and/or as a written research proposal.
Assessment information and marking standards
Does the working title mirror closely the content of the poster, and is that content appropriately
focused? (Maximum 20%)
Does the introduction section of the poster establish the problem or situation the student is
interested in, and the academic and practical context in which it is set? (Maximum 20%)
Does the literature section of the poster identify a body of relevant academic literature and a
literature gap? (Maximum 30%)
Does the methodology section of the poster outline a research design and methodology, and is
there a plan for data collection and analysis? (Maximum 30%)
*Note: The marking scheme allows flexibility, and it is by no means exhaustive.
