ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This success of mine could not be turned to reality without the following persons who helped me
with their all in different ways. To all of you, let me acknowledge you and assign my department
of gratitude. First of all, I would like to thank the Almighty for giving me the strength to
overcome all the obstacles that I faced while completing the task.
I would take this opportunity to thank my supervisor Er. Varun Sood, whose expertise and
intellect always acted as a stepping stone for me and guided me at each and every step. He
guided me whenever I encountered a problem and made sure that I completely overcame the
obstacle. He gave me appropriate examples and knowledge to make me understand the various
concepts of my seminar topic. His motivation and guidance was what kept me going throughout.
The successful completion of the report owes a large credit to him and his hard work.
Most especially, I would like to thank my beloved parents who stood with me through thick and
thin. They never let me feel belittled at any point of time. They acted as a strong pillar for me

ABSTRACT
III
Based on the advances in computer technology, especially in the field of miniaturization,
wireless technology and worldwide networking, the vision of wearable computers emerged. We
already use a lot of portable electronic devices like cell phones, notebooks and organizers. The
next step in mobile computing could be to create truly wearable computers that are integrated
into our daily clothing and always serve as our personal assistant. Which new functions could
textiles have? Is a combination of textiles and electronics possible? What sort of intelligent
clothing can be realized? Necessary steps of textile research and examples of current
developments are presented as well as future challenges.
