Annie Lennox began her career as the lead singer of the British pop band the Tourists but
after three years and only moderate success she left with band mate Dave Stewart to form the
duo Eurythmics. It was with Eurythmics that Annie began to enjoy a considerable amount of
recognition not only in the UK but also in many countries around the world. In the 1990s
Annie embarked on a solo career and continued where Eurythmics left of with several
bestselling albums. In 2010 she released her fifth solo album. She has won a number of music
awards including eight BRIT awards, a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Into the West which
she wrote for the soundtrack to The Lord of the Rings.
As well as having a hugely successful career as a musician, Annie is also a political and
social activist, working tirelessly for better health awareness in Africa, and campaigning for
the peace in Middle East.
