Introduction

In the present work you’ll find different essays about the scenarios chosen by each members
of the group and a comparative chart with the most common and uncommon components
given in the essays mentioned before.

Scenarios and specific needs are presented to improve in learning English, such as
confidence, fluency, the interpretation of texts and talks, in various contexts such as
university, a job interview or simply leveling up in vocabulary acquisition and understanding.

Scenario
A young man with level B2 needs to start studying the English language according to his new
job, as his teacher I must choose the appropriate topic and grammar focus on banana´s
Plantation Company. is necessary to identify the correct vocabulary to teach to the new
employee, I consider that is convenient to apply a test and analyze the young student's
knowledge and finally, to have a clear objective in the learning process and get the student to
understand the business grammar and he obtains effective communication with other people.
The young student needs to attend about the production, machinery, and distribution
processes, also to have effective communication with foreign commercial investors and
visitors, because the young must master English in the workplace and I need to prepare
different materials to improve the vocabulary and grammar.
The idea in the learning process is organize a curriculum using communication activities,
different language forms focused on banana´s plantation company with the objective of help
the young student to improve the communication abilities, some reads or text about the topic,
can be used to acquire more vocabulary and put it in practice.
Finally, English language as a needed for Young´s job, required interesting classes or
practical work as texts, books, to create motivation in learning process, to develop the class it
can use technology as a computer or mobile phone with internet, to create a good learning
environment, having a complete curriculum with all grammar to teach and obtain in the
student an effective learning and an excellent communication developing all skills.

Conclusion

In this text we can looked some characteristics for designing an ESP course, in this case a
young man needs to learn vocabulary, grammar, etc, and develop all skills to speak English in
the company to keep the work, as a teacher I need to use some strategies and a complete
curriculum according to the young needs in his new job. Is important analyze the situation
and the Banana plantation company to focus in the important characteristics.

Scenario
A university student from an English Bachelor program in Colombia wishes to hire an
English teacher to prepare her for a language test. This student 2 already has an English level
of B1 and is highly motivated to graduate as soon as possible, but she lacks the ability in the
receptive skills of listening and reading comprehension. Therefore, she wants the tutor to help
her prepare on these two areas for the exam to achieve at least a B2 level.

Essay
Learn and improve English skills is a great challenge, because it’s not always easy. It’s
necessary to practice a lot all the skills including, reading, listening, writing and speaking, to
achieve this goal and be a better student or teacher. In the case of this university student who
needs to improve the level to B1 to B2, she has to performance activities which help her and
encourage her; it can be activities with her favorites songs, listening audiobooks, reading
books or magazines etc. and is important that she has the will and the time to dedicate to her
learning process.
English for specific purposes, or ESP, is the teaching of the English language for
professionals in different areas, focusing on the types of expressions, vocabulary, standard
and formal structures that will be used especially in a specific field, etc. in this case we’ll talk
about learning English. When we start a course of these, the first thing we have to take into
account are the needs of the students, identify these needs and the capacities imply to identify
the functions for which the students will use the English.
The methods to improve for example the reading comprehension and listening skills could be
practicing with easy and clear materials, like structural linguistics because “in a structural
description the grammar of the language is described in terms of syntagmatic structures which
carry the fundamental propositions and notions (Hutchinson & Waters, 1987, P. 25).
The university student who will be hire a English teacher to prepare her in two areas should
have general knowledge of English for tests and also have a knowledge in vocabulary of
Listening and reading comprehension, to be able to help her to pass the test and she can
achieve at least the B2 level. For the design of the ESP course we must make a Curriculum,
materials, methodologies and evaluation procedures.
Listening, reading, speaking and writing: these are the four basic language skills. In this case
the teacher needs to emphasize in listening and reading, Likewise the teacher has to plan and
organize a ESP course to work with this student, the specific purpose for the class is improve
the listening and reading comprehension skills. There are activities that he can implementate
like back to back interview, follow the directions, reading activities, story sequencing among
all. The teacher needs to apply strategies and tools to the student can practice and learn in an
easy and creative way.
The teacher has to follow some steps to make sure that the student can learn fully, first try to
make a kind of diagnosis to know what are the previous knowledge who possess the student,
second design a lesson plan for every class and organize the topics that she needs to study and
looking for tools and strategies in case that the student doesn’t understand

Conclusion
To finish we can say that teachers has to implementate the adequate strategies to the students
can learn, in the other hand, ESP course is not only responsibility of the teacher, the students
has to give their best and have the disposition and will to work and study to get good results
and finally there are a lot of strategies and there are a lot of ways to practice and improve the
English level.

Scenario
D. A doctor is hiring you to prepare him for a job interview that he will have in 3 months, for a new
position. He has a B2 English level and a good range of vocabulary related with his profession, but he
lacks fluency and confidence to speak because he has not found anyone to practice with, therefore he
decides to hire you to prepare him for this specific purpose. He would like to reinforce his speaking
and listening skills.
 
Essay
 
We generally associate language with communication. However, the repercussions of having language
skills, or lacking them, go way beyond communication. Our command over the language we
communicate in everyday determines how confident we are about presenting ourselves. It even
reflects in our body language and self esteem.

Being fluent in English is important, considering it is the universal language of business


communication. For those looking to improve their skills, here are a few tips.
Speaking English fluently is not just about making corporate presentations and giving long speeches.
It is about expressing your views on the most mundane of things. How often do you meet a new
person and face an awkward silence after the initial greeting because you don't know what to talk
about? Worse, you may wish to initiate a conversation but may not be confident of putting something
across correctly.
Topics for casual conversation could include the weather, sports, current affairs, arts, hobbies, travel,
etc. Read up on your area of interest and try framing sentences expressing your opinions. Talk about it
with someone close to you so you can check for grammatical accuracy. Then, gradually build up on
your repertoire of conversational topics and start using them whenever you get a chance. Of course,
when you talk, do not make it sound like a speech you have learnt by heart. Induce a casual tone and
adapt to the occasion.
 
It is proven that what most increases confidence and fluency in any language is to always talk about
everyday and very spontaneous things, these exercises prepare you to respond quickly and in a relaxed
way, a quality highly valued for job interviews as is ours selected scenario.

Conclusion

In the selected scenario, it can be concluded that in order to have greater confidence and
fluency, conversations must be constantly held about everyday aspects and if you want to also
delve into technical language.
The first element to consider is learner goals. It is suggested that many ESL teachers facilitate
their students to develop communicative competence to really use the language for authentic
purpose. Nonetheless, what students learn from the teacher may not be the outcome that the
teacher supposes them to acquire.

E. A flight attendant is hiring you because she has a month to take an English exam by means
of which she may be promoted to a better position at the airline she works for. She has a B1
level of English and manages a good range of vocabulary. She speaks with some fluency but
needs to prepare for the writing, language use and reading parts of the exam.

Learning English is an extraordinary test to improve any expertise. It is a thoughtful hard to


pratice in a few fields to improve, Listening, composing, talking and Reading. It is essential
toachive a few Words to constructed our own jargon so as to improve our CFR level which
could be A1, A2, B1, B2 or C1.

There are a few procedures to center our jargon which is use in our current circumstance and
could be utilize helpful in our day by day schedule. English for explicit purposes or ESP is
center in the sorts of exercises to learn English. It is important to have a wide scope of jargon
to distinguish the capacities to learn explicit English for explicit purposes.

Any aptitude ought to be asy to rehearse and undertand at an opportunity to procure

As an english instructor we should do a dignostic wich distinguish the past information to


recognize the two áreas we should educate. I may plan a test for that persono r understudy to
improve their Reading cognizance.

I should créate my classes dependent on the need of the customer, There are a few exercises
and books to improve Reading perception utilizing mixing learning.

It is likewise important to créate an exercise plan so as to assess continously and contastily
