Six Best Ways To Destress During The COVID-19 Pandemic

Don’t let Coronavirus kill your 2021 mood

By: Tori Landon

1. Stay Active: Physical exercise is one of the best

stress relievers. Staying active is a must during these depressing
times so, make sure you don’t forget to keep yourself busy. Yoga,
meditation, and self-reflection can help destress and grow into a
different mindset. A nice walk around my development always
improves my mood these days.

2. Read a New Book, Blog or Magazine: Reading is

something people say they never have time to do,
now that is not the case. Reading can also be an
excellent stress reliever as they sharpen our minds,
keep us informed, and are a great communication
starter. Even better, join a virtual book club.

3. Limit Social Media and News Intake:

Watching the news every day and scrolling on your
Facebook feed can be very worrisome during these times.
It is important to stay informed during the pandemic but
acknowledge how you are being informed. Choose your
news sources wisely, pick sources which are credible and
unbiased.

4. Get Extra Sleep and Relax- Remembering to

Breathe: Go to bed early, sleep till noon and take
three naps during the day because you can!
Being sleep-deprived eventually leads to stress,
so take the time to curl up and be extra comfy.
Now is the time to take advantage of doing
nothing and getting into a healthy sleep routine
that will restore our bodies and minds.

5. Connect With Loved Ones and Friends via Zoom or Any Other Online
Platform: Social distancing from your family and friends is not fun,
especially around the holiday season, so schedule
a family happy hour or game night to boost your
mood. Not being able to be around company and
staying isolated from loved ones can put a real damper on your spirit but
do not stress. Now is the best time to take advantage of our modern
technology by staying connected through video calling programs such as
Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, and Facetime.

6. Acquire New Hobbies: Whether it is

learning to cook, learning a new language,
building a home garden, or starting a blog,
a new hobby can improve your mood and
destress you immensely. Watch youtube for
any ‘how-to’ ideas, and I am sure you will
become a master in no time.
