1. What is your understanding of the authentic assessment? Make a metaphor

where to compare it.

Authentic assessment is like a game, because it required various techniques

and demonstrates an essential knowledge and skills. Also, they can make
their own decision and construct knowledge based on their own experience.
We all have a different styles or techniques in playing a game just like
authentic assessment, we all have different learning styles and also
demonstrate what we have learned in different ways.
- Valerie Dable

Authentic assessment is like a puzzle, because it aims to form a desirable

image in order to see it as a whole. More likely, it is forming the students to
develop their skills through authentic assessment. The puzzle consists of
pieces that serves as the objectives of the lesson; it is like playing the puzzle,
throughout the process, students are able to connect to the real-world
challenges. Thus, completing the puzzle is like successfully meeting the
student’s learning need that will make a long-lasting impact to them.
- Arries Jean Cagas

Authentic assessment to me is like an orchestra conductor because orchestra

conductor build and operate.
- Edlyn Joy Vinson

Authentic Assessment to me is like a puzzle piece because for me it is like a

piece that is very important especially in learning. We can't fully know if we
have learned something if we cannot apply and use what we have learned in
reality and in order to do that we need authentic assessment as a method to
effectively learn and apply all of these in real life situations.
-Daralene Grace Camariñas
2. How are you going to implement authentic assessment in your class based from
its attributes? Explain extensively.

Authentic assessments mirror the real world as much as possible.  This means using
real situations and roles to design tasks for students to demonstrate their learning. Look
back at that science standard.  Writing a multiple choice question to assess it is
feasible, but you would probably lose parts of the goal.  For instance, if you gave
students the properties of different materials and asked them to choose which was best
for the intended purpose, you would probably lose the analysis of the raw data from
testing.

An authentic assessment, on the other hand, might ask students to take on the role of
scientists looking for a metal that is malleable enough to use in high speed internet
wiring.  In this task, students would analyze the data from scientific tests to determine
which metal (if any) is most appropriate for creating internet service wires. Students
would have to make a plan for how to analyze the data and explain their reasoning
about their final decision. Just like  in the performance tasks, students would go through
the full performance of the standard.  Just as important, they might have to try out
different approaches to figure out which metal is best, deal with ambiguity, and maybe
even work collaboratively with their peers.
