Team Work process

Teamwork processes have been identified fall into three categories:

Transition processes
These processes occur between periods of action. In this period, the team
members can evaluate their overall performance as a team as well as on an
individual level to improve the process of collaborating.
Action processes
In this stage, team members keep each other informed about their progress and
their responsibilities, while helping one another with certain tasks to accomplish
its goals and objectives.

Interpersonal processes
This is a continuous process, in which team members must communicate any
thoughts and/or feelings with other team members.

Enhancing teamwork

A manner in which organizational psychologists measure teamwork is through

the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Teamwork Test. The KSA Teamwork
Test was developed by Michael Stevens and Michael Campion in 1994. Overall,
the KSA is separated into two main categories: The Interpersonal KSAs that
contain items such as Conflict Resolution, collaborative problem solving,
Communication and the Self-Management KSAs that include items such as Goal
Setting and Task Coordination.
High performance Team (HPTs) is a concept within organization
development referring to teams, organizations, or virtual groups that
are highly focused on their goals and that achieve superior business
results.

Sense of Purpose

Individuals with a sense of purpose have clearly defined their mission and goals
since the beginning.

Open Communication

One of the most important characteristics of a high-performing team is open

communication. Members, who are not afraid to express their ideas and thoughts,
as well as listen to what others have to say, are indeed professionals.

Trust and Mutual Respect

Respect and trust are two words that correlate with each other. As part of a team,
both should learn how to trust and respect each other.

Shared Leadership

An effective leader asks for ideas and suggestions from their members.
Effective Working Procedures

Aside from being highly skilled, effective team leaders are also resourceful. They
encourage creativity and find the most outstanding way to achieve their goal.

Building on Differences

Efficient leaders use drawbacks of an individual as a weapon to create alternatives

and other approaches that may be useful in different situations.

Flexibility and Adaptability

A high-performing team consists of adaptable and agile individuals that they can
easily adjust to any given situation.

Continuous Learning

The hunger for discoveries and newly acquired knowledge is the last characteristic
of a high-performing team. Their desire to learn everything that they can or what
might help improve their craft is an essential matter.
