Material : Review Material Test Certificates to ensure that the material in use is as specified in drawing and specification. Consumables : Inspect Consumables to be used for Size, Type and Condition. Equipments : Check Equipments & Instruments to be used are in good operating condition. Review Calibration / Validation Certificates, to ensure their use within due dates and duty cycle. Fit-up Cutting Operation : Check cutting method and monitor cutting operation. Joint Preparation : Inspect joint preparation for appearance and dimension. Distortion Control : Inspect adequacy of Distortion control measures. Environment Control : Inspect adequacy of environmental control measures. Cleanliness : Ensure cleanliness of joint preparation. Preheat : Ensure achievement of preheat, as applicable, where arc is to be struck. Alignment : Inspect Fit-up for alignment, both linear and angular; using appropriate inspection aids.
Preheat & Interpass : Monitor that inter-run & interpass, preheat and temperature, is maintained. Welding Consumables : Monitor Consumables in use for storage, handling & condition. Welding Process : Monitor welding process in use is as specified in WPS. Welding Technique : Monitor welding technique in use is as specified in WPS. Welding Variables : Monitor that all welding variables are maintained within WPS specified range, during welding.
After Welding (Post Welding Checks)
Cleanliness : Ensure cleanliness of weld zone.
Weld Identification : Check availability and adequacy of Weld Identification. Visual Examination : Perform visual examination of completed weld joint using appropriate inspection aid. Other NDE : Offer for other NDE, as applicable. Evaluate : Review all NDE reports to identify relevant imperfections and evaluate with acceptance standard.
