1) Read the text and put the missing words and expressions (some words are given) : notice period срок
уведомления, start date, confirmation letter, contract, hand in your notice написать заявление об увольнении

If you are successful in a job interview, the company may make 1)a job offer.
If the company does offer you 2) the position and you accept the offer then you will need to talk about the 3) terms of
employment. You will need to discuss the 4) working hours and of course the 5) salary.
Before you start your new job, you will need to decide on the 6) start date. This will depend on the 7)notice period in
your current job. This could mean you have to work for a number of weeks after you8) hand in your notice.
When you have agreed all of this, your new employer will send you a 9) confirmation letter and you can sign a10)
contract with them.

Sorry I'm a bit late. I couldn't find the room. Good morning, Greg. Please take a seat, and we'll start the 1)induction
meeting. Thank you. OK. Now, the purpose of this morning's meeting is to introduce you to the company, tell you
about the company's structure and your role 2)within the structure, and to explain some of the office procedures.
Lizzie, by the way, is my new 3)PA. Hi, Lizzie. Now, our company is quite big with4) five overseas offices, but our
department, facilities, is relatively small. How many departments are there? We have five-- sales and marketing,
communications and PR, HR-- that's human resources—5)finance, and of course our department, facilities. So there
isn't an IT department? No, IT is the responsibility of our department. Facilities deal with all aspects of the building
and office 6)equipment, including the computer hardware, 7)software, and IT communication.Greg's important for that,
and he has a lot of experience in the area. What exactly does the communications and PR department do? They're
responsible for the image we present to the outside world-- our customers, our 8)suppliers and our competitors. They
coordinate all our official messages. Who looks after customer service? The sales and marketing department. They're
9) in charge of customer inquiries and complaints.

 3) Line management. Watch the next part of Greg’s induction meeting. Janet talks to Greg and Lizzie about
line management. Answer the questions : Who is Greg’s line manager?Who is Lizzie’s line manager? Who does Josh
report to? Where is he?

Your line manager is the person immediately above you in the company, the person who supervises your work

OK. Here you have a diagram which shows the five departments and our department structure. I think you'll find
it helpful. In terms of line management-- Lizzie, as my PA, you report directly to me. Of course. I see. And who
do I report to? Your line manager is Josh, so you report to him. You haven't met him yet because he's on
personal leave, but he'll be back tomorrow. Right. And who does Josh report to? I line manage him. OK. You
can see the other team members here. Hopefully, by the end of the week you will have had a chance to meet
them all and talk to them about what they do. Yes. I think I know most of them already.

Me too. Now I'd like you to read this. It explains our company rules and regulations regarding computer use. I'll
be back in 10 minutes to see if you have any questions.

Greg's induction meeting - rules and regulations

Watch the final part of Greg’s induction meeting.
Janet tells Greg and Lizzie about what they mustn’t do, what they aren’t allowed to do and what they have to
do.
Watch the conversation and make notes. In the next step you’ll check your understanding of what Janet says.

Right. Sorry about that. I had to see to something. So any questions about the use of IT? No. This all looks
clear. No questions. Good. So if you can both sign at the bottom and give them back to me later. Let's move on
to some other office rules and regulations. First, your office ID. You both have that, don't you? Yes. Yes. Good.
You must have your office ID with you at all times. As well as giving you access to the building, it's used to
activate the photocopier. Can we use any of the photocopiers in the building? Yes, you can. But you can't use
them for personal use.
That is only allowed in special cases, and you have to get permission from a manager. OK. Now you've seen
the kitchen facilities, haven't you? Yes. Yes. If you want to have lunch in the office, you can use the microwave
to heat up meals. However, you mustn't take your meals to the work area. You have to use the tables provided
in the kitchen. Are we allowed to have coffee at our desk? Yes, you are. That's fine. You are allowed to take
drinks to your desks, but please avoid food and that includes snacks. Now as we have an open plan office, you
have to keep noise levels down. So for example, you can't listen to music and videos on your computer.
Each person is provided with headphones. So if you need to listen to something, please use them. We have to
respect the people around us. What about the use of phones? Can we take calls at our desk? Yes, you can. But if
it's a teleconference, try to use the private rooms we have. This way you don't disturb others. And are we
allowed to receive personal calls? Well obviously. We all have personal matters to attend to, so you're allowed
to. But obviously, not all the time. And again, keep the noise level down. OK. And still on the subject of
respecting others, I'm sure you've all seen the notices around the office. We have a strict no smoking policy.
You're not allowed to smoke inside the building or outside at the office entrance. That's fine. I don't smoke. Nor
do I. So no problem there. OK so moving on, regarding dress code for the office, we usually dress smart casual.
However, if you are meeting any external clients or contacts, then you must dress appropriately. So that means I
have to wear a suit and tie for those meetings. Yes, you do. That's generally the rule.
