1.0 Introduction
The AT-8948 Power Supply Units (PSUs) are available in two configurations,
either a 100~240V AC power supply (PC212), or a DC version which is based
around a –48v power distribution frame (DC212). Both versions provide a single
rail 12v regulated output to the AT-8948 chassis.
Power supply redundancy is supported through the use of two 200W Power
Supply modules. The power supply modules can be connected in parallel bays
in the rear of the AT-8948 chassis. If redundancy is not required, a Fan Only
Module (FOM212) can be inserted in place of one of the power supplies.
Current load sharing and hot swap capabilities allow for redundant operation.
Both the AC and DC variants are able to hot swap into the power supply bay in
the rear of the AT-8948 chassis.

Output Signals
All error and status signals are active low with open collector outputs.
On start up there will be a nominal 100ms delay from when the output voltage level
becomes within specification until the Output Power Good signal is asserted.
On hot insertion the Output Power Good signal will not be asserted before the
post-mating "Power Supply On" pin is connected to the AT-8948."

Good signal will not be asserted before the post-mating “Power Supply On” pin is
connected to the AT-8948.
The temperature limits will require the ability to be preset over a ±10°C range. Fixed
temperature limits will be determined during the design process.
The fan fail circuit will be accurate to +- 500 rpm of the set limit. As the nominal fan
speed is approximately 6000 revs, the limit will be 4500 rpm. This means that the fan
fail signal will always be active if either off the fans in a PSU or FOM module falls
below 4000 rpm.
The fan fail alarm will also be required for the FOM. The circuitry for the fan fail alarm
will be located on the separate DC output connector PCB.
The fan fail signal of a module in one bay will not affect the fan fail signal of the
module in the other bay.
supply any current due to the current sharing arrangement. Power supply A will be
supplying all of the current @ overvoltage but will also have a power not good signal.
This means that both power supplies will have power not good signals and it is
impossible to tell which PSU has gone overvoltage.
To detect which power supply has gone overvoltage, power supply B will still produce
power good signal if it senses overvoltage but is not delivering any current.
Input Signals
Turn Down (1 line)
Turn Down, also known as voltage kneel, will cause the PSU to reduce its output rail
voltage level to 90% of the nominal value and de-assert its power good signal.
The Turn Down signal will be active low with a nominal threshold of 1.5v.
The details of the load share line are to be decided during the design process and will be
defined in this specification.
Visual Indicators
The visual indicators are located on the rear panel of the PSUs and fan module.
The FOM will include only the Fault LED, which will indicate fan failure.
Power Good
The Green Power Good LED will be illuminated when the DC output voltage is within
specification. The Power Good LED will have the same functionality and timing as the
Output Power Good status line.
The Power Good LED will not become active unless the post-mating “Power Supply
On” pin is connected to the AT-8948.
Fault
The Red Fault LED will be illuminated either on fan failure or if the temperature
exceeds the specified limit of 75°C.
