concluded press “Finish”.
From the “FILE” drop menu, select “Check updates on SICES website”.
To perform this operation, an internet connection is necessary. The update of the SW, with
this procedure, will have to be performed periodically.
Jump to par. 3.2 ”Configure the device” if you do not use a serial connection with the device.
Below, it will be described a basic procedure for the device connection composed by a “Serial
RS232/USB2.0” adaptor and a serial cross-over type cable (crossed). For further details
and/or to consult the different types of connection, it is necessary to consult the Manual
“EAAS0341xx Serial Communication Specification and Modbus and SMS Protocol”
The devices are provided with a serial port compatible with the EIA-RS232 specifications. It is
accessible from the outside through the male connector DB 9 poles CANON type, same as
those used on PC. The pinout of the connector is standard type, as follows:
Pins Function
1 N.C.
2 RX
3 TX
4 DTR
5 GND
6 DSR
7 RTS RS232 Devices Serial port
8 N.C.
9 N.C.
After the installation of the driver and the connection of the driver itself to the USB port, the
operation system will detect a COM x serial. Check if the setting of the serial communication
between the communication software of the PC and the control device.
The default settings of the devices are:
- Data Bits: 8
- Parity: none
- Stop bits :1
From the “Communication” drop down menu select the sentence “Select the
communication resources” and, after ticking the peripheral device you want to use for the
connection in the box “Communication resources”, press “Ok” to confirm (Ref. par. 4.2
Communication Communication).
It is also necessary to select and configure, still from “Communication”, the serial address of
the device. In the “Select serial address” window, insert the address of the device meant to be
connected; this address corresponds to 1 as default setting; confirm by pressing “Ok”.
If you don’t know the device address to be assigned, the parameter identifying the address of
the first serial port for every device, except for MC100, is P.0451. For MC100 the parameter
is P.4201. (Ref. par. 4.2.2 Select the address).
Click on the icon “Connect” in the control bar. (Ref. par. 4.2.3 Conne).
Confirm “Yes” to proceed with the reading of the information of the connected device and the
relative acquisitions from the software.
Press “Connect” once more to recharge the updated settings and enable the connection of
the device.
INFORMATION! Before pressing “Transmit”, be sure that in the column “In the PC”
are valid values for that device.
WARNING! Transmitting the column “In the PC” without values (empty) means
transmitting all parameters, not protect, to 0. This will cause the complete cancelation
of the device configuration, therefore causing serious damages to things and/or
persons.
Click on the icon button “Configure”, in the control bar, to drop the menu and under- menu
down on the left side of the display.
The parameters inside the menu and under-menu are not visible until when they will not be
selected or decompressed by selecting on the file or on the “+” sign. (Ref. par. 4.1.4
Configuration of device).
Click on the icon button “Read” in the control bar and confirm with “Yes” to proceed with the
reading of the parameters of the device. When the operation is concluded, the status is visible
from the progress bar.
When the reading is completed, the parameters uploaded in the device will be available, only
displayed. (Ref. par.3.3 Reading of parameters).
Click on the icon button “Copy” in the control bar and confirm with “Yes” to proceed with the
copy of the parameters from the only reading column “In the Device” to the column “In the
PC”.(Ref. par. 4.3.3 Copy from “in the device” to “in the PC”)
To view the parameters to be modified, it is necessary (if compressed) to click on (+) which
corresponds to the under-menu.
The under-menu can contain other under-menus, which have to be selected in order to view
the parameters correctly.
If it is a numeric value, only one click is enough to select the parameter and the numeric
keyboard to set the new value:
INFORMATION! If the set value does not comply with the permissible values of for that
parameter, the software will not accept the value, providing the red box:
Re-set a valid value and press “Send” or press “Esc” to cancel the modification.
A valid and confirmed value is displayed with a yellow box to highlight the difference with the
value in the device:
If the value is a condition and/or an operation mode, a double click is necessary to display,
form the drop down menu, the available options.
Select by the arrows, the available options and click on “Send” to confirm.
The yellow box indicates the modification of the option, compared to the one set in the device.
Standard configuration
Configuration performed for the standard sensors and/or as digital inputs; in this case it is only
necessary to select, among the available choices, the sensor type to enable.
Special configuration
To offer the possibility to use all sensors (impedance, voltage and/or current) present in
the market, we implemented the special configuration of the analogue inputs. This,
together or not with a signal transducer (only voltage and/or current) allows, for some
analogue input, to customize the conversion curve of the generic sensor.
Follow the indications of the sensor producer to better define the curve of measure, the decimal
digits and the points of resolution desired.
Following, an example of curve of a sensor with input with voltage 0..5V named “OIL LEVEL”:
2) Select the file “New” if you desire to create a new sensor or if it is not present in the file
“Sensors”. Select “Open” if the file of the “sensorname.sns” has already been saved in
the PC or you want to use a compliant one, available in the file “Sensors”.
3) Click on “+” or “-“ to add or remove the points of resolution of the curve.
INFORMATION! If the sensor is linear, only 2 points are sufficient. The more points are
added to the curve, the higher the resolution.
After creating the sensor, it is possible to save it, “Save” , for a future use and/or transmit it
to the card.
The digits “In the PC” and “In the card” allow the view
of the sensor, respectively to be transmitted and after transmitting.
For the analogue sensor, two thresholds of intervention are available with possibility to
define, through a bit combination, the sequence to use when a threshold is detected.
Selecting with double click the “Configuration” boxes, a window will open where
possible to flag one or more intervention sequences.
The value “AND/OR0103-Logics” allows to configure, through a Boolean logic, the digital outputs
depending on one or more status conditions in a given event. The possibility to use the AND
or OR ports and their relative negation (NOT) on the single status condition, allows to satisfy
the most part of the requests. For each configuration up to 30 logic blocks are available.
INFORMATION! It is not possible to use contemporarily more than one AND or OR logic
operations for the same output.
In the following example, we configured an output with AND logic and 4 logic blocks with n. 4 logic
condition inverted.
For the logic configuration it is necessary to select the “AND/OR 0103-Logic” in the functions
connected to the “Digital outputs”.
The selectable and available conditions are shown in the window relative to the single block.
To configure the digital output with 0103 value, select the icon “+” (add) to open the
choice window and thus define the condition and the event status.
Click on icon “+” to expand the under menu, select the status condition to be used and click on
INFORMATION!: Some status conditions might be not available: “Digital inputs”, “Digital
Outputs”, “Alarms” and “Thresholds on measures Status” if not configured in the plant and/or not
available..
The value “0101 – Used by PLC” matches the digital output to the PLC device internal function
(Programmable logic controller), activating the output only if the operation conditions and/or
sequence are satisfied. For further details and/or clarifications, refer to the manual: SICES
EAAM0432xxXA SICES PLC Editor.
If the device supports this function, in the control bar will appear the icon “PLC”.
With this function it is possible to read and/or transfer a file, previously filled in with SICES PLC
Editor, containing the advanced functions of the AND/OR logics, timer, counters, variables, that
is all PLC standard functions.
Click on the icon to open the window through the “PLC” commands:
If the device is connected and in communication, the PLC management for the DST4602
controllers will be available, starting from the rev. 3.14 of the BoardPrg3. This management
allows reading, writing and cancelling the PLC program, which is on SICES controllers, by
means of a specific window recallable through the “PLC” program, which is in the tools bar.
The “Upload and transmit” command allows transmitting the PLC program to the controller.
to proceed with the writing and/or re-writing of the file in the device, the confirmation is required:
A confirmation window informs about the correct transferring. Click “OK” and “Close” to return to the
main program.
The “Cancel” command cancels all PLC program, which is in the controller. It is necessary to confirm
“Yes” in the window of command confirmation:
A confirmation window informs about the correct cancelation of the PLC program. Click “OK” and
“Close” to return to the main program.
Click on icon “Transmit” in the command bar and confirm with “Yes” to proceed with the
transmission of the parameters from the column of “In the PC” to the column “In the Device”
(Ref. par. 4.3.2 Tra to the device)
INFORMATION!: The transmission of the parameters will only affect the not password protected
parameters. (Ref. par. Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata. Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata
trovata. code)
If the transmission happened without complications, the column “In the device” and the column “In the PC”
will be aligned, that is, there will be no indications of differences in the parameters. Different methods to
interrupt the execution of a program are available; Here follows the most correct procedure: click on
“Disconnect”, to interrupt the communication with the serial port, click “File” and select “Exit” (Ctrl+E) (Ref.
par. Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata. Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata. Bar, 4.2.4
Disconne) in the drop down menu.
Following are the descriptions of the commands in the menu bar and, the main commands
are under the same icon to simplify.
Some commands of the menu bar and/or of the commands icons can have three types of
views based on their functional status, on the ongoing communication, on the access rights to
the parameters and/or on the plant configuration.
3) Commands or Buttons activated. The buttons have been clicked and the corresponding
function activated. The view is in bas-relief and the background is clear grey.
By clicking on the arrow on the right, it is possible to select one of the following languages:
In the box “Revision”, write the version FW (visible on the serial number plate). This
information is useful only in case you work OFF-LINE (not connected to the controller). In
case of connection with the controller, the SW will inform about eventual differences between
controller type and FW set and the real setting of the controller.
It is possible to add some data and notes, which will be saved in the PC together with the
configuration.
Select one of the three main menues among “Parameters”, “I/O” and “Alternative
Configurations”. For some devices, the main menues can only be 2, Parameters and I/O.
Digital inputs
Digital outputs
Analogue inputs
If the function is released, click the icon button “Counters” and the values saved in the
counters of the device will be displayed.
The procedure for the reading 3.3 (Parameters reading), the copy, the modification of values
3.5.1 (Numeric) and the transmission 3.6 (Transmit the parameters) of parameters is the same
used in the configuration (Ref. par. 3.5.1 Numeric).
The Clock button allows synchronizing the controller clock with that of the PC. This function
is active only if the device is in communication with the software.
To check out the available languages, it is necessary to click on button “Check on web site”.
Select the desired language, if available, and click on button “Upload and transmit”
At the end of the uploading, confirm with “OK” to close the message window.
Select a new language to upload a new language or click the button “Close”
to exit the “Additional Languages Management” and return to the main window.
It interrupts the communication with the device, if active, and closes the program BoardPRG3.
In this menu, it is possible to define the parameters of communication between the PC and
the device.
We remark that the current PCs have not serial ports, so that it is necessary a Serial adaptor
RS232/USB or, for more recent devices, only the USB cable for peripherals. If you use the
Serial adaptor RS232/USB or directly the virtual USB, it is important to correctly notice which
serial port is correctly assigned to the interface.
(normally in BLUE)
,press the button CONFIGURE to
set the communication
parameters (this activity is not
significant if you select Ethernet
communication).
The program can communicate with the controllers through serial port or Ethernet or virtual
USB (virtual serial RS232).
Then select from COMMUNICATIONS the voice “Select the serial address”.
If you chose the communication via serial port, only the first line (the one containing the
address) will be modifiable. Instead, if you chose the ETHERNET communication, the other
fields will be modifiable.
In case of ETHERNET communication, it is usually enough to set only the “IP address” box.
Leave the other data as per default.
Activate the connection through the selected serial or Ethernet port. Check the correct data
exchange through the message counter, which is in the bottom right of the window:
A correct communication will return the increase of positive packets, number on the left of the
bar “/”, leaving the number on the right of the bar “/” to 0.
Pressing the button “Read” (from keyboard: “CTRL+R”) a command confirmation window will
open up to proceed with the reading of the parameters configuration. Confirm “Yes” to proceed
or “No” to cancel.
Pressing the button “Transmit” (from keyboard: “CTRL+W”) a command confirmation window
will open up providing the
transmission of the parameters
configuration. Confirm “Yes” to
proceed or “No” to cancel.
When the transmission has finished, if the parameters have been modified, the two columns
will be aligned with the same values and there will be no highlighted differences, either on
the structure tree (on the top left), or in the cells of the columns with some highlighted zones.
To modify the parameters values, before transmitting them, it is necessary to copy the
parameters from device to PC, respectively from the left column “Nel dispositivo” a quella di
destra “Nel PC”. Cliccare il pulsante “Copia” e confermare con “Si” per procedere alla copia
dei valori dal dispositivo o “No” per annullare la copia.
If you chose to copy the configuration, the software will align the values from column “In the
device” to column “In the PC”.
Clicking the button “Default” it is possible to upload in the column “In the PC” the basic
parameters usually inserted as a default program. This function allows a comparison between
Clicking the button “Upload”, a window of explore resources will open, allowing to recover
eventual configuration files previously saved.
After the selection of the file with “.par” extension to be uploaded, press the button “Open”.
These values will be uploaded automatically in the column “In the PC”. At this point, the
software, performs a comparison check between the values in the column “In the PC” and in
the column “In the device”. This comparison, in addition to remarking a difference of values,
checks the alignment among the different Firmware revisions and informs if there are some
parameters which are not present for the differences of Firmware and/or software.
Clicking the button “Save” a window of explore resources will open, allowing to save the
configuration file with the values present in the column “In the PC”.
Clicking on the button “Print” a window “Print properties”. Select the printer, if installaed, and
press the button “Print” to proceed with the parameters print.
The print will provide, in the bottom part, the main information of the device, among which:
Date and time, device name, firmware installed, serial number. In the bottom, part 5 column
will be viewed with the following order: Parameter number, description, Measure Unit, value
of the parameter and a column “notes” where possible to write some notes.
In this screen all information about version, revision, available options, etc. is reported.
The dark grey boxes indicate values password protected; to modify them, it is necessary to
insert a valid access code.
INFORMATION: For further information, consult the user manual of the device at the
section “Password”.
The box “Current level” indicates the access level to the parameters writing. This level is
modifiable based on the password inserted in the “access code”.
When the software detects a difference of values in the parameters, between the two columns
“In the device” and “In the PC”, a warning icon is displayed: “ ”.
In the window on the left, “menu tree”, the menus will be noticed, inside which are parameters
with not corresponding values.
On the lower bar, on the left, it is viewable the type of controller selected and the product code.
On the lower bar, on the right of the “product code”, the firmware revision of the device is
viewable.
On the lower bar, on the right of the “Device Firmware”, the “ID Code” of the device is
viewable, in 12 digits format.
On the lower bar, on the left of the “ID Code” a number identifiable with “Job information” is
viewable.
On the lower bar, on the right of the box “Information on job”” the field Notes is viewable.
On the lower bar, on the right of the box “Information Notes”, the “Communication resource
selected” is viewable.
INFORMATION: Check the correct serial address in the device, directly on the operator
panel.
On the lower bar, on the right of the box “Serial address” the IP Ethernet address is
viewable.
On the lower bar, on the right of the box “IP address” the counters of the correct/failed
messages in transmission/reception are viewable.
The counter of the correct messages (9) will be increased at every message correctly sent.
The counter of the failed messages (10) will be increased at every message failed.
If the communication with the device is active and functional, the correct messages counter
will keep on increasing, while the failed message counter will remain at 0.
The confirmation modifies the configuration of the software, aligning the parameters to be
read, copied and/or transmitted to the device firmware.
