Types of sparring:

Sumo Sparring - This will be the primary kind of sparring permitted for 6-7 years old. The
purpose is to knock the opponent out of the ring or to knock them down.

Technique Sparring:
Technique sparring begins immediately for everyone and is the most common form of sparring
for adults. The first drill students will perform will involve them gently patting each other’s faces
with gloves to set future expectations. Very light impact with no effort to defend at first, just
gentle jabs, crosses, hooks, elbows, etc and then slowly defense is incorporated and then as
the students progress they will have access to more techniques with which to safely practice.

Class begins with “Slugfests” in which students partner up and perform technique sparring all
out hand strikes with no footwork and no evasion. Gently patting the partner with the glove
focusing on correct form and moving around the opponent’s techniques.

Little Ninjas

忍術

Ameyamano kage ninjutsu

MODERN SYNCRETIC NINJUTSU

Rationale:

Safety:
Safety is our top training priority, the techniques we teach are designed to keep your child safe
on the mean streets of the real world and at the same time we make every effort to train safely.
This means that we teach functional techniques, and at higher belt levels even encourage
sparring to test those techniques in high pressure situations so the student can learn to be
effective in real life scenarios while minimizing impact to the head and strain on the joints.

Discipline:
Our technique classes are taught in a traditional manner, where students are encouraged to be
active and willing participants in the process of their own self improvement in the martial arts
and in all facets of their lives. Students are instilled with a sense of self discipline and deference
to teachers with more experience.
Fitness:
Classes will begin with a brief warm up with your little ninja’s weapon of choice followed by a 45
minute free form physical conditioning session with guided activities designed to sharpen the
reflexes and strengthen the body.

Focus:
Martial arts training improves focus, and our mid-class ninja mindfulness training will further
ensure your child shows increased concentration in the classroom and a overall improved
capacity to study and learn.

Fun:
Ameyamano Kage Ryu is a fantasy martial art designed to be appealing to children. Functional,
time tested martial arts are blended with gymnastics, outdoor survival skills, common sense
safety and ancient, exotic oriental mystery to create an exciting and educational self defense
and development program.

Martial arts are good for kids and help them grow into healthy and conscientious adults. Martial
arts training develops the body, mind and spirit and our training philosophy encourages
cooperative improvement

Learning culture striving for continuous improvement in a cooperative and friendly and relaxed
atmosphere to facilitate maximum absorption of material

Little Ninjas Code of Conduct:

I will always wear my Ninja Mask in Class and whenever I am on official Ninja business unless I
need to blend in.

I will never use what I have learned to bully others.

I will avoid fighting if at all possible.

I will not hesitate to defend myself and others if the need arises.
