Preface
The American La~guage Course (AL.C) is a comprehensive program designed primarily
for mtenslVe Enghsh language training. The course will provide students who do not
understand and speak English with sufficient English language skills to enable them
to successfully pursue technical or professional training at various schools sponsored by
the Department of Defense of the United States of America.
In the General English phase of the ALC, the language student will learn basic
structures and vocabulary of American English by practicing the four language skills
of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The General English phase of the ALC
consists of six progressive levels oflanguage proficiency training. Levels I _ V (Books
1 - 30) consist of six separate instructional packages each. Level VI (Books 31- 34)
consists of four such packages.
COURSE COMPONENTS
The coordinated instructional packages for Books 1 - 30 consist of the following:
