VERSE CHOIR COMPETITION

Title of the contest piece: The Bells

 There shall be one (1) contest piece. The contest piece shall be given two (2) weeks before the contest.
 The number of contestants shall not be less than ten (10) members. Maximum is twenty (20) participants.
 Costumes and props are allowed.

GROUP SINGING COMPETITION

Each choir is allowed to have on stage a minimum of 16 singers and maximum of 30. All songs must be performed in A CAPELLA. 

Though choreography and costumes enhance a performance, it will not be graded separately and will not earn a group additional
points. Order of performance will be determined by drawing of lots on the day of the competition.

Performance time, Order of Performance of Chosen Repertoire and Penalties:


             a. Each choir is allotted 10 minutes to perform the two chosen pieces.
             b. Timer starts when the first note is sung.
             c. Choirs may perform their chosen repertoire in any order.
             d. Choirs who will exceed the allotted performance time will be penalized.
             d.1. Exceeding 30 seconds or more but less than a minute = 1 point deduction from total  cumulative score.
             d.2. Exceeding  1 minute to 2 minutes = 2 points deduction from total cumulative score.
             d.3. Exceeding 2 minutes or more = 3 points deduction from the total cumulative score.

TECHNIQUE (Intonation, Diction, Choral Blend and Balance) 40%

ARTISTRY AND MUSICALITY (Interpretation, Expression and Style) 30%

DIFFICULTY OF PIECE  20%


OVERALL PERFORMANCE and DEPORTMENT  5%
CHOREOGRAPHY and COSTUMES 5%
