Customer Care Notifications are intended to inform you of the availability of new hardware, software, and
special programs, product release information, training opportunities, and service-related information of a
non-technical nature.
Introduction
Schneider Electric is pleased to inform you that Foxboro Evo™ Control Software v6.1 is now available. Control
Software v6.1 offers new features to significantly improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Details
§ Automated Modicon PLC / Unity Pro configuration integration, automates building the Foxboro Evo DCS
interfaceto Modicon PLCs configured using Unity Pro, reducing engineering effort and minimizes risk of human
error
o Tags configured within Modicon PLCs are now automatically accessible to the Foxboro DCS. This applies to
any PLC utilizing Unity Pro –M340, M580, Momentum, Premium & Quantum applications.
o For more information visit: Unity Pro Object Template User's Guide (B0750DB-A).
o Accessible through the GUI and new Direct Access commands added for power users
o For more information, refer to Strategy Editor User's Guide (B0750AN-W) or Scripting with Direct Access
User's Guide (B0750BM-AB).
§ Improved Foxboro Control HMI migration from FoxView with new Script Functions and INT to Binary support
for ArchestrA Graphics
o For more information, refer to Control HMI Application User's Guide (B0750AQ-R)
Technical prerequisites:
§ Control Software v6.1 can be installed on Control Software v6.0, v6.0.1, v6.0.2, v6.0.3, v6.0.4 and v6.0.5
§ Control Software v6.1 can only be installed on Control Core Services v9.0-v9.3 or I/A Series v8.8, or on
workstations running Windows 7® 64-bit or Windows Server® 2008 R2 Standard operating system
§ Control Software v6.1 does not support Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
The Unity Pro Object resides in the Galaxy and provides an interface to the Unity Pro PLC configuration data.
The UPO accesses the configuration, allows specific tag selection and stores the PLC tag data in the galaxy. The
UPO also allows augmentation of the tag data via user fields. These can be used to customize the DCS object
naming and control hierarchy. Upon repeated PLC configuration changes, the UPO subsequently determines the
changes made to the PLC and details those changes to the DCS engineer.
The Bulk Data Object was enhanced to extract the Modicon PLC tag data from the Unity Pro Object. The BDO
uses a formula engine to generate DCS object names from the PLC tag and user data.
File Watcher
The File Watcher updates the associated UPO when a PLC engineer updates the PLC configuration. The
The changes made to the “Break Link to Template” feature will simplify the import/export process and strategy
management across multiple galaxies. The new "Break Link" rederives strategies from the base $Strategy,
allowing the resulting strategies to be easily shared between galaxies without concern for template overwrites.
Along with this new implementation of "Break Link", a new facility for copying strategies is also being introduced.
Copy Strategy
Strategies can be copied from within the Control Software GUI or from Direct Access. Top level strategies and
their contained blocks and nested strategies are copied in a single operation. Both templates and instances can
be copied to either a template or an instance.
As part of the copy operation, you have options to derive the strategy copies from:
o $Strategy
As part of the copy operation, you have options to derive the blocks contained in the strategy copies from:
o "The Control Software GUI, strategy context menu, "Copy Strategy /Break Link"
The new "Break Link to Template" feature replaces the existing feature of the same name. The new version of
this feature makes a complete break of the strategy instance from its template. The strategy after its link has been
broken will be derived from $Strategy. This also applies to all nested strategies within the selected strategy.
As part of the break link operation, you have options to derive the blocks contained in the strategy from:
o "The Control Software GUI, strategy context menu, "Copy Strategy / Break Link"
Direct Access also has a new QueryFilter called "StrategyLinkStatusIs". With this filter, you can find all existing
strategy instances where the link is broken to the template.
For more information refer to the "Copying a Strategy" section in the "Introduction" chapter of Strategy Editor
User's Guide (B0750AN-W) or the "BreakLinkToTemplate Command" section in the chapter "Attribute Update
Operations" in Scripting with Direct Access User's Guide (B0750BM-AB).
New Script Functions Added to Control HMI Script Library for ArchestrA Graphics
A new “Integer to Binary” format function was added to the Control HMI script library for ArchestrA Graphics. This
function provides additional support of FoxView to ArchestrA migration. Existing library functions were updated to
provide better unsigned integer support in ArchestrA.
For details, refer to the “Control HMI ArchestrA Script Functions” section in the chapter “ArchestrA Graphics for
Control HMI” in Window Construction User's Guide (B0750AS-N)
The Control HMI application attempts to auto-login if ArchestrA Security is set to “OS User” or “OS Group”. The
Login dialog box has also been updated to provide a one-click login button. This button is only enabled when
security is configured for “OS User” or “OS Group”. For usage details, refer to the “Logon” section in the chapter
“Using the Foxboro Evo Control HMI” in Control HMI Application User's Guide (B0750AQ-R).
o When viewing ECB202 detail displays for FBM248, the Configuration view now has a separate SYSCFG
view that shows the configuration states of the 8 HART channels in the FBM248.
o The FBM 248, when released, will add redundancy to the intelligent marshalling functionality released in the
FBM247.
o Control Software V6.1 includes this support for the future release of the FBM248.
Information on all these features are detailed in the Control Software v6.1 Release Notes document (B0750SJ-A)
