Kartavya: About AXIS

About AXIS
As the wheel of technology rotates, AXIS aims to act as a medium for those who wish to pioneer a
revolution. AXIS aims to serve as a platform for those who wish to bring about a change, to help
students contribute to this technical advancement. VNIT, one of the premier institutes for
engineering in India, undoubtedly bags the cream of intellectual talent. In 2001, with a common
motivation to showcase technical alacrity and the dire need for new ideas, AXIS, the technical
festival of VNIT, was born. Originally christened Odyssey, the technical festival was soon renamed
AXIS, to represent a much more active crusade against the lack of novelty and original thought
applied to established technological norms, which threatens to impede any future human
advancement. In the past sixteen years, AXIS has brought about a complete transformation in the
technological dynamics of Central India, and that’s not to mention the strong competition it now
gives to the technical festivals of other such institutes of high calibre, thus living up to its motto
‘Revolution starts on an AXIS.’ Over the time, it has grown in leaps-and-bounds. From a small
intercollege exposition to a national level festival, in over the span of 19 years, AXIS has strived to
provide the basis for the kindling and the nourishing of ideas. More than 30 events ranging from
Automation and Robotics, Software and Electronics, Construction Design and Safety, School Events
to Management and various other domains are organized under AXIS along with workshops,
exhibitions ,pro-shows, social initiatives and a lot more educational and social activities

ABOUT KARATVYA
Kartavya is a socio-technical event aimed at channelling technical minds towards challenges that
NGOs face at present scenario. The common challenges of society which plague them can be
eliminated with innovative ideas by the bright minds. Kartavya teams up with India's finest NGOs to
provide a platform to create social awareness in the young minds and encourage them to provide a
viable and sustainable solution thereby bridging gap between engineers and NGOs. So, dive into this
exciting opportunity to display your flamboyant skills and win exciting prizes!

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Water Budgeting:
Water Budgeting (WB) approach is geared towards ensuring optimum, equitable and most efficient
use of water. This involves gaining an understanding of water availability, a community's existing
needs and requirements of water crop planning based on water availability, optimizing Irrigation
equitable sharing water, and considered decisions on ground water withdrawals You can select any
particular village down and do your research on that village/town and give a detail study of
sustainable measures which can be employed efficient water budgeting there.

OR

Cost Effective RO Purification Method

Around 75% of the Water fed into a RO filter, is wasted. Only 25% gets extracted as drinking Water.

This causes a tremendous Overhead on the Water Supply as well as Sewage Treatment system of
Apartment Complexes.

Design a sustainable RO purification method which wastes less water, which can help in cost cutting

REGISTRATION PROCESS

GAMEPLAY
The event would consist of two rounds:

ROUND 1 March 11th :

• In this round, the participants have to submit an abstract based on the solution for problem
statement given. These would be problems faced by NGOs.
• This problem statement has to be answered in 150-200 words. The solution should be
practical and applicable in real life scenario.

• Abstract should be uploaded to the link you will be receiving once you register for the event
and then participants would be short listed for the next round based on the abstracts.

ROUND 2 March 21th :


• You have to give a presentation which would be presented in front of the panel of judges
belonging to the NGO and esteemed faculty. The winner would be selected based on the
points scored in the final round. 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes shall be awarded as well as certificate of
excellence for all people selected in round 2.

Rules:
1. Number of participants in a group should not exceed 4.
2. Abstract should be uploaded in PDF format in the provided Google form link via Registered
mail ids.
3. Submission of abstract for round 1 should be on or before 11th MARCH 2021.
4. The solutions the participants come up with, should be technical, cost efficient and easy to
implement.
5. Abstract must contain your personal information such as your name, college name, city,
phone number etc

JUDGING CRITERIA:
1. The judges will make the decision in the final round based on the proposed idea and its
presentation.

2. Points distribution would be given on the day of round 2.
