GRADE 7
I. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. execute action words/verbs commanded;
b. determine the action words/verbs used in a selection/story;
c. appreciate the use of action words/verbs in everyday living;
d. enumerate the action words/verbs related to given ideas;
e. identify action word/verb used in a sentence; and
f. use action words/verbs in a complete sentence and a paragrapha.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Verbs or Action Words
B. References: Journey to English by Rellorta
C. Materials: Tarpapel, strips of paper, and Chalkboard
III. Procedure
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
A. Motivation
The teacher will give commands to the learners The learners will follow the

1. Everybody stand.
2. Look under your chair and around you.
3. Find if there are papers or candy wrappers

4. If there are, pick them up.
5. Throw them in the trash can.
6. Go back to your sit.
7. Get ready for our discussion.

B. Review
Review on Nouns
Nouns are names of person, animal, things,
places, events, and ideas.

Examples:
Daniel, lion, ball, birthday, love

In a sentence, the person or animal is the doer of


the action (verb).

Example:
A. Daniel erases the writing on the board.

Read the story of Peter and the Wolf, then identify the
verbs used.

Peter and the Wolf


Peter was a young boy who lived is a small
village. He had no family but he had lots of friends.
The people of the village asked Peter to take the sheep
to the mountains.
So, early in the morning, he walked up the
mountain with lots of sheep around him.
During the day, he looked after the sheep,
counted them, played his flute, climbed up the trees,
and he talked to the sheep but they didn’t answer him
of course. So, he was very lonely up there in the
mountains.
One day, he decided to play a trick on the
people of the village. He cried loudly for help: “Wolf,
wolf, please help me!”
Some men and women appeared in the street
and walked quickly to help Peter. But, when they
arrived there, there was no wolf at all. Peter laughed
and laughed at them but they weren’t very pleased at
him. And they returned home.
Some days later, when Peter was in the
mountains, a real wolf appeared and attacked his
sheep. The boy tried to fight the wolf but it was so
dangerous. So, Peter cried loudly for help. “Wolf,
wolf, please help me!”
But this time, nobody answered. The people
stayed at home because they did not believe in Peter
anymore.

board.

E. Generalization
Verbs are words that tell actions and they are very
useful in our every day life. For without actions, we
can not enjoy living each and every day. We cannot
travel if we will not walk; we cannot tell stories
without talking; we cannot enjoy music if we do not
listen and many more.

IV. Evaluation
A. Identify and underline the verb in the sentence.
1. Julie studied her lessons last night.

2. I become the head of the family.

3. Mrs. Barns supplemented us with these materials.

4. The eagle soars to the mountain top.

5. The puppy lies on the mat.

6. The athletes are playing in the fields.

7. My teacher instructed me to come early for practice.

8. Harry bought this for us.

9. The company delivered the new products.

10. The radio plays old music.

B. Use the following action words/ verbs in a complete sentence.
